I'll have to read up on reverse osmosis systems. Over 15 years ago, I tried a product called Bullseye 7.0, which did absolutely nothing in my 75 gallon tank. The PH fluctuations probably stressed the fish out more. Chemi Pure didn't last long enough, and couldn't be regenerated. For a while I used a...

This is my favorite site for conversion:
http://www.convert-me.com/en/convert/volume
What surprises me the most is when I read about people from the UK mentioning how many liters their tank is, instead of gallons. Do they sell both over there?

Beautiful fish with excellent color! I didn't know there was such a thing as Sumatra clown loaches until someone made a post about them on here. It looks like you have some mixed in there, and they do have nicer color. I'll have to keep an eye out for them, but don't know how common they are in the ...

I have no clue where that fish hides! He comes out during feeding, and it's so annoying how fish face the opposite direction when you're trying to look at or photograph something on their other side. I'll try again tonight. Catching him would be tough. If all else fails, I'll try a bottle trap with ...

Hi Diana, I don't know what the cause of the "ulcers" could be, other than stress from moving. It's more like a small, raised lump or pimple. At my last house, he was kept in a 55 gallon, then moved in to a new 120 gallon, which needed to be replaced under warranty, so then he was kept in a 20 gallo...

Kubotai with second ulcer and flashing
My fish have been stressed from moving tank to tank...long story. Anyway, one of my 4 young Kubotais had an ulcer burst a couple of months ago. I added salt at the rate of one tablespoon per 5 gallons, and I was happy to see that the would healed. He's been looking slightly skinnier recently, and to...

Plants that loaches don't eat?
Years ago, I learned the hard way that loaches will destroy your expensive plants! Since that time, I've kept fake plants in my tank. Aside from the java ferns, are there any other plants that loaches won't eat?

That's OK, Mack, but I do appreciate your input, and everyone's help for relieving me of my worries (at least regarding the loaches). The rainbow aggression has calmed down considerably, but the Herbertaxelrodi males still have scale damage. I think I'm going to keep salt in the tank for a while. Th...

I didn't see anyone else mention it, but clown plecos will keep your driftwood absolutely spotless! I keep these, as well as a group of otocinclus in my tank. The otocinclus do a great job of cleaning plants. My loaches have never bothered them. The only incident I had was coming home to find one of...

Hi, and thank you for the welcome! Just so there is no confusion, I changed the first picture of the male fish that isn't mine to a link. All the pictures above are of my fish. I also deleted the last 2 and added side views. The spots are very small, and the fish itself isn't very big. What size doe...

Thank you for the reply! Yes, it's just the males. It's possible I have too many male rainbows in the tank, I don't know. I've never seen them this vicious before. Most of the fighting happens when the lights are out. My most beautiful male Lacustris was chased all over the tank relentlessly after l...

Is this velvet, or male spots?
Hello, This is my first post, and I apologize for it being so long. I just don't want to leave any details out. I may be a little paranoid, but after moving to a new home several years ago and losing several clown loaches that I had kept for about 15 years, I'm very cautious. I recently moved again ...
