i believe ich is a opportunistic protozoan.. they're everywhere. When a fish is sick or stressed, it goes on the attach. I don't think you can get rid of them but you can reduce their number like you just did. Just make sure to give your fish a healthy stress free environment. you might want to redo...

i tried with a regular cucumber sans skin.. The b. histrionica ate the seeds and surrounding flesh but left everything.. It looks like a slice of eaten watermelon.

the seeds are nutritious i assume.

frozen shrimps are actually 'fresher' than unfrozen ones... when shrimps are harvested, they're processed and go straight into the freezer unlike non-frozen ones.. they could sit around for days... same for frozen cooked shrimps.. I always buy those because they taste the best... for me that is.. no...

do you know if they turn a yellow hue when they grow older?
I have one that's 3" and he/she turned yellowish. But the other 2 are not.. I was wondering if I have one that's not in the same species or a variant.

i ate shrimp with the shell on all the time.. it's a bit tough but I didn't have any ill affects from it... it's good for the nails... go to the grocery store in the sea food section.. oh, and any reason why they only pick on the rainbowfish? I have also have cherry barbs, rummy nose tetras, 2 female bettas, 1 hilstream, and 1 rubbertip pleco.
