Martin, not only do you clearly have great skill and patiend, it's obvious that you're NOT using a Wal-Mart camera set on auto :D

Martin, it's a Canon PowerShot set on auto, they're grainy because the light is too low. The one that's in decent focus, the camera decided to flash. Plus, cropping them down further fuzzies the resolution.

OK, Martin, I'm envious of your loaches AND your camera skills. When can you come photograph my adorable beloved kuhlis?

I've never had good luck with live plants. My kuhlis seem to have a lot of fun with the fake log and dead Indian almond leaves. http://i799.photobucket.com/albums/yy276/possumlady/kuhlis/2-16-10kuhli6.jpg http://i799.photobucket.com/albums/yy276/possumlady/kuhlis/2-16-10kuhli2.jpg http://i799.photob...

However hard they may have to work for their food, they sure look like they're eating more calories than they burn ... they're fat and sassy, like they should be. Oh, I love their little barbelled mouths!

Another advantage of keeping your fishtank at a major metropolitan hospital: if the power goes out, emergency generators kick in, even if you're not there.
At home we do have a generator, but only because I got it when I lived out in the boonies, and kept it when I moved to civilization.

KUHLIS! Small (3-4"), peaceful, hyperactive, psychedelic, mesmerizingly eel-like, and tolerate a wide range of water parameters.

Eel Loach? Never heard 'em, but now I want some! Looks like they'd get along just fine with my kuhlis. "Considered a delicacy in parts of Thailand"? Who'd bother to catch and cook a bunch of three-inch skinny little fish, much less eat them? They can't be very filling. Maybe pangios can come up with...

Mine don't always hang together. And there's one who often zips around the tank by himself. But they're such fun when they're all wiggly together, especially when I feed them they truly are psychedelic.

I read somewhere that when they need air, their instinct is to go straight up -- and some have gotten trapped in decorations. I was even a little afraid of putting a leaf in there, and watched him like a hawk when I put it in his tank (that was a really productive day at work, I assure you.)
