I like how the package shows that each pellet = the calories of 1.8 goldfish. That will make it easier for Marge to count calories...like she cares

Always good to see the bigguns, Emma- thanks for sharing the new pics!

Hi Mike, If your local retailers can't or won't supply what you want, you might find it here www.franksaquarium.com A little pricey with the shipping, but Frank's stock is always healthy, and he quarantines all of his loaches and pre-treats them to guard against 'skinny disease' and parasites. If yo...

The great thing about Melafix is that it won't hurt the other fish or your biofilters- if you need to treat with antibiotics or other meds, I would definitely transfer the patient to a Q-tank- otherwise, the company of his/her shoal does a world of good (as long as nobody's picking on them). You sou...

I had about 12 serpae tetras for a few years . It seemed that about half of them had this same problem swim bladder problem when it was there time to expire. They lasted 1 - 6 weeks swimming crazily, like they are trying not to sink to the bottom. The Serpae's are the only fish I've ever seen that ...

Hi Scott, welcome :D I do have a (purchased) ceramic 'log' thing, which is about 18" long, 3.5" around. Made to look like a hollowed out piece with holes through in places...looked like the perfect hidey place for my clown babies. What I didn't know is that the thing has crevices inside it that the ...

I've never tried alfalfa sprouts on my loaches, so I don't know if they're safe...but I would think the hardest part would be getting them to stay on the floor of the tank :) Maybe someone else has fed them. I'd be curious to know also, since I tend to throw away more than I eat when I buy them! Kate

Hi there, Read this post on ick. It should answer most of your questions. http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?t=2599 Certainly the short version is: 1.) Do a water change with vacuuming. 2.) Turn up the temperature to at least 82 F degrees, maybe a few degrees more. 3.) If you have a Hang on Ba...

Hey there- I'm a little surprised that you're having trouble finding clowns in such a large metro area. Have you talked to whomever purchases/stocks the fish in your LFS? I have to drive 50 miles to the nearest PetSmart here, and they nearly always have clowns. It's other loach varieties that I have...

Hi Sue, welcome to LOL :D With clowns, what looks abnormal is usually pretty normal for them. They could be showing off, trying to purposely freak you out, having a contest...who knows? You did all the right things, checking your water parameters, looking closely at them for signs of illness. The on...

Goldfish tend to like cooler water than clowns, but if you already have a tank with goldfish that are acclimated to around 28c, I don't see a problem with it. :)

Hi Squid, welcome to LOL . Those are some nice large tanks you have, and the temp should be fine. Do you have water movement in either tank? Clowns like a bit of a current, as they are river fish. Any idea what your water parameters are? And- I'd think twice about housing the clowns with your arowan...
