Re: Sand as a substrate.
A pump driven sponge filter will also clear up your water quickly. When I move and/or switch substrate out I use 1-3 (depending on tank size) Maxi-Jet water pumps with sponge filters on the end, works awesome. I always take the decor/fish out and put them in holding tanks with their canister filters...

Clowns with outside the norm markings are called oddballs - and those are some really nice ones that you have there!

Never though of baking sand before - is it safe? I know you aren't supposed to boil rocks because they can explode - but if baking is safe than that would be awesome!

Re: When a bigger tank is not possible
Thank you EmilyMarie85. I will be lowering the temp as soon as Baby Girl gets over the swim bladder issue. Or should I do it now and see what she does? But I will up the temp if I see any sign of ich and will do water changes as well. As soon as I get a chance I will put the pics that are on my cel...

ken childs. http://www.loaches.com/articles/clown-loach-breeding-related-items From what I found when I researched, there are a total of 5 who make claims to spawning behavior, a spawn and/or fry. Re: When a bigger tank is not possible
The high temp. is good, when fish have ich and you are trying to cure it. Keeping the tank at a higher temp. won't prevent fish from getting ich. Raising the temp. only speeds up the life cycle of ich. http://www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Aquarium_Ich.html <-- pretty good read on ich. Basically, ...

Re: Welcome to the New Loach Forum
I have heard the clowns can be too active for a discus tank. I am sure that in a deep enough tank, it would work fine.... but in your "average bear" tank -I can see the problem. Discus are timid, slow moving - peaceful. My nickname for clown loaches is crack fish. They cruise around in high bursts o...

loachlover77: As you may know, clown loaches spurt growth to 4"-5" and THEN they grow very slowly. You came to this forum requesting help if I remember correctly? You had some sick clown loaches with ich and fungus (your version of fine in a 55g?). After you treated for those the loach started hangi...
