It also varies a bit from fish to fish.. My Helodes (Tiger Loaches) don't seem to bother my other fish at all. No matter what people say about the 'agressive' Tiger Loach. They do bully a bit at feeding time but there is no chasing or bullying other than when the Bloodworms (mmmm, worms.. *smack*) h...

In my tank, Kubotai are the goofy entertainers.. Almost constantly moving and dancing around. I'd think that Kubotai would startle the Angels until the Angels get used to the extra activity but there should be no problem with agression or territorialism.. I keep my loaches in groups of five (tank si...

I believe that they do. Hillstream Loaches all require a high oxygen content and pretty good circulation. I am not sure if there are territorial tendencies or aggressive behavior though I am sure they rival for dominance like other loaches. Were the Homaloptera orthogoniata for sale? Was it a reputa...

Amazing!! I'm happy and sad.. Happy because those are really awesome pictures and your loach specimens are incredible! You hardly ever see clowns that big, in that condition that still retain that much color! Sad because my loach tank now looks like a goldfish bowl to me.. :( Maybe I can take up kni...

Sondra, I've never treated Velvet. Whatever treatment you decide to go with, just be careful in the mixing of treaments.. Loaches are VERY sensitive to treatments to begin with and when you mix them, God knows what it could trigger. I have heard of a product called "Coppersafe" from Mardel Laborator...

Jim, I was just there last week.. He had Clowns(yawn), Reticulated Hillstreams, and the Chinese Butterflies, but alas.. No Saddlebacks. This has been an ongoing quest for me.. I'm jousting windmills here.. Eric spoke highly of you when I purchased my four Kubotai from him about four months ago. I th...

You couldn't have posted your success before I spent all that time replying?? LOL Good news!! Hey poeticpyro, keep treating your Loaches! Don't forget that the ich paracite is still in the water, and even though your fish no longer have the white spots, they can still become reinfected quickly if yo...

In my experience, I've had luck in killing ich by increasing the water temperature to 86 degrees and using the one teaspoon per gallon approach. I increase aereation, and I also use Melafix in small (Half) doses. Since ich is a paracite that damages the skins of fish, when the cyst bursts, though yo...

Homaloptera orthogoniata
Hey all, I'm in the process of locating new inhabitants for my Loach tank.. I've got everything else that I'm looking for but I'm still looking for the one breed I really want to "set off" my Loach tank. I'm looking for about five Homaloptera orthogoniata ("Saddled Hillstream loach" / "Saddleback Hi...
