@ Tinman Not intending to highjack your thread. Hope you don't mind me posting here because I have similar issues. :) http://www.cafe-kreativ.de/connor/fish/injured_alpha.jpg Quick shot of my alpha loach. The fins actually do look better now - no more fungus visible, just quite ripped apart. :-| Any...

If you find a solution to that I'd be more than interested to know. I have one clown (out of 17 loaches) who has exactly the same problem. It's my alpha clown loach. I suspect it had some violent altercations with the male ancistrus resulting in wounds that got infected but I can't be sure. :-| I am...

Re: New Kubotai's sick---HELP

Hi Mike, well .. first of all, no panic. :-) Removing him into quarantine is probably to late now - if he really carries a disease which needs medication it is already in your tank. My fish are sometimes scratching themselves too - this can be anything from a single event every few hours to a wild s...

Nice video and nice action .. always wanted to see some large helodes 'family" like yours. Definitely a different league compared to clowns.
One question, are there enough pipes for all of them to hide?

(large picture warning!)

Hello *@*, I managed to get a few decent close-up shots from my community tank tonight. High resolution, for those of you blessed with widescreen displays. The others are doomed. ;-) http://www.cafe-kreativ.de/connor/fish/20080204_loaches.com/01.jpg ^ This is "Plug", because the weird markings on hi...

Connor- I'm not sure if you are serious or not. I think not because of your PS. In any case, it is interesting to note that the details of this design make a big difference. The position of the outer supports is critical. Move them inward or outward and you get problems real fast. This cantilever b...

Keith,
I noticed the water level on this picture. What did you do to make the stand perfectly level?
Superb work.

Two videos of one of my favourite artists, Tori Amos (well, I like her old stuff). Crappy youtube videos so just close your eyes! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scZwbgeRUkg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKya66GEZak The second one is a cover from "Love song" by The Cure and one of the most emotiona...

Loaches L.O.V.E. tubes of any kind, be it bamboo or PVC. They love them so much I think it's almost cruel not to have a few in the tank. :) My clowns and striatas prefer them above all other hiding spots at night, only the kubotai like more open caves. http://www.cafe-kreativ.de/connor/fish/tube.jpg...

Hello, perhaps you need to change your ich medication. I have always had good luck with eSHa Exit. It is absolutely imperative that you continue treating for at least 3 days after any ich "dots" you can observe are gone. Daily water changes are IMHO not necessary (a big change at the beginning and a...

Hello mduros, unfortunately I can't tell from your photos whether those are kubotai or histrionica either. The one to the right in the top picture looks very much like botia kubotai to me, though. Regarding the fighting .. it's normal. These two guys are probably of nearly equal strength&size and th...

Thanks for the compliments. First, here's the video in MUCH better quality: http://www.cafe-kreativ.de/connor/fish/kubotai.mp4 (h.264 codec @1024kbs, mp3 audio, ASF container, ~7.5MB, plays fine in VLC 0.8.6d) You can now actually recognize the food (small greyish crumbs) .. watch the last lo...

... and loaches shall walk the earth!

Well, at least mine are trying to. After watching this for a few times I decided I had to share with you. I mischievously placed some food on the glas bar at the top of my tank and, well, see what happens: http://www.myvideo.de/watch/3220613 Only the kubotai are brave enough to pull this off. Next s...

Re: My Loach Wallpaper

Hey TC,

splendid picture! I've done some loach photography myself and I know how hard it is to get ONE really good picture (out of a hundred or so).

Would you mind sending me a 1920x1200 desktop version, please?
