Interesting article.
But did i get it right ?
Basically it says that the same species of Ballitorid.
varies in appearance when found at different altitudes ?
This could very well explain the differences we spot in our Beaufortia Leveretti's/Kweichowensis.

Just today i spotted my "Blacky" sitting on the filter box when i was doing the regular weekly water change (offcourse no camera :S) I will watch out for the "tigrinus" patern you mentioned. In the meanwhile the other guys are still doing good :) though we lost a Cheni  No apparent reason he wa...

Your tank looks nice and clean :)
I have that same none unidirectional flow
Still the Hillies very much enjoy the setup so far, 400 lph internal and a 500 lph JBL proflow mini 600
Offcourse i,d love to build me a tank with manifold and the works,
alas no space here for a 3rd tank.

Sexing Beaufortia's

having watched my foursome of Beaufortia's for almost 2 days on end now. I can seriously see a little difference between the sexes. The index suggests males most likely are lighter in coloration. 2 of mine are bright in colours, 1 measures around 2" the other 1,5" The other 2 are slightly darker and...
