Re: Help building a 20l river manifold

Mcgold76: An undergravel filter is a plastic "plate" that fits fairly snugly in the bottom of the tank. The plate has slots or holes and several round openings for uplift tubes. Rather than me go into too much detail, you might want to do an online search for more info and a pic. Anyway, gravel cove...

Re: Help building a 20l river manifold

I made a river tank manifold using an undergravel filter plate instead of pipe. I have one powerhead that puts out about 275gph and one sponge filter on an uplift tube at the other end of the tank, against the back wall. This setup has been going without any problems for over 12years now. I also hav...

That's great!
I thought there was an article about breeding this species in Amazonas magazine but it was instead an an article about breeding the "panda" hillstream loach, Yoashania pachychilus.

Yes, I'm probably worrying for nothing, but its been ten years since I have seen this species so I want them to do well.

Re: pseudogastromyzon fasciatus

Well, so far so good. I am frustrated that I have not seen them feed besides grazing. Their intestinal tracks are working (they are pooping) so that's good but I would like to see them feed on pellets, bloodworms, brine shrimp and spinach leaves like most Pseudogastros do. I know that it sometimes t...

Re: pseudogastromyzon fasciatus

I may get some pics after they fully settle in and color up. I have no idea where they came from. I think the store in Indianapolis that had them got them as zebra hillstream loaches.

I guess I am lucky to have been able to find a few fish stores that indulge my needs as best they can. :D

pseudogastromyzon fasciatus

I picked up some of this species the other day. Its the first time I have seen them in about 10 years.
So far they are grazing but I'm still waiting for them to start eating bloodworms, brine shrimp and pellets.
Wish me luck!

Re: ID gastromyzon and homaloptera

That's the problem with identifying zebrinus, there tends to be so much variation.
There is also the possibility its cranbrooki or crenastus.

Re: Homaloptera confuzona

I have kept other species of homaloptera types (H. smithi, etc.) with shrimp and not had a problem. I do think they probably feed on some of the tiny shrimp fry but nothing serious.
By the way, where did you get these?
