Re: Clown Loaches Brackish Water
Good article. You'll find that most serious loach keepers are aware that they do have scales. However, for the purposes of fish keeping we regard them as scaleless because their sensitivity to medications and toxins is similar to that of true scaleless fish. Serious loach keepers also understand th...

Re: ICH med recomendations for Clown loaches
Thank you. My temp is currently at 86F I'm running a curculation pump and airator in addition to the hob and canister I am also feeding oral medication and garlic in a mix of various food combos each day. I can not find that medication you suggested locally... I am hoping the heat and oral meds will...

ICH med recomendations for Clown loaches
I noticed today on one of my younger clown loaches what appears to be the early stages of ich. This particular fish was fairly recently introduced to the tank after a few weeks of QT. I was fairly confident he was fine. Clear skin, bright color, clean eyes. But now a week or so into the big tank and...

According to my research a dH between 4 and 12 is recommended.
Can anyone confirm or deny this?

kh and gh relative to clown loaches
So recently I was looking into plant care since I'm gradually upping the number of live plants in my tank... this adventure led me to test the kh and gh of my tank. I have done this with the terta brand test strips and the API test stripes. I have yet to find the liquid chem tests locally but once I...

Re: Question about Clown Loach behavior
So I added a new koralia 425 circulation pump and last night my oldest loach was playing in the current and he bounced on the gravel twice Once he landed on his side in a flop and the next he landed on his face. Has anyone else had this happen? Should I be worried about him? He acted like it startle...

Re: would loaches be a good idea?
Get some 6+cm clown loaches for sure. The larger the little loaches are the better. Ie, don't get the tiny small ones. Try and find a shop that has some small to medium size loaches, 8-10cm size. My loaches (of all varieties) each the Malaysian trumpet snails. I didn't even know what they were call...

Re: would loaches be a good idea?
Short Reply due to time constraint. My 8" Clown Loaches have cleared the aquarium of trumpet snails - I haven't seen one. They do not get on so well with cichlids, especially territorial ones as the Clown Loaches all muck in and don't respect territory. Yea my oldest clown use to get between my ang...

Re: Clown Loaches Brackish Water
Well I've kept clown loaches now for about 7 years and I know what she's saying is untrue. I have in the past low dosed them with a salt container to treat ich but that has been it and it was purly out of desperation because they where dying from the ich and nothing else seemed to be working. I had ...

Re: Clown Loaches Brackish Water
I thought of this thread yesterday when the girl at the pet store started telling me how clown loaches where practically brackish. When I told her that's not true she started arguing that her manager told her so. . I informed her that according to loaches.com the definitive loach experts that was no...

They seemed to really dig all the new spots... and they got a lot more active.
