Big Mama YoYo
I went to the Tennessee aquarium yesterday and while they didn't have much in the way of loaches, they did have some huge B. almorhae. This big one wouldn't come to the front so I couldn't get a good shot but it's good enough to show her girth. I'm guessing she was about 7 inches long. http://i128.p...

I shall try me best :P This thing eats up memory cards like you wouldn't believe. I got a killer deal on a 3 pack of 1GB cards. The 32 Mb card with the camera is good for about eight full-res pics. Martin. WOOHOO! Keep those pictures coming! The cards keep getting cheaper and cheaper but the camera...

Longears are relatively common here, especially in the streams and rivers that feed the Tennessee River. I used to catch pumpkinseeds in Big Bear Lake in SoCal and they are beautiful. Orangespots stay relatively small so they are better suited to life in an aquarium. Green Sunfish are pretty cool an...

There are some amazingly beautiful NA species but most of them look good for only a short period of time during spring. The orange spotted sunfish is one of my favorites. A male in breeding coloration is as good as it gets. http://www.epa.gov/bioiweb1/images/fish/orangespot_sunfish__web1%20-%20Jeff....

If I can ever find the time and get my butt in gear, I'm going to setup a darter tank. We used to buy some for export when I worked at Dolphin and there were amazing to look at. It's really weird to to see a fish turn its head! Some of the species are so common here that people use them for bait. Th...

I don't agree with mixing goldfish with most tropicals but goldfish and koi can obviously thrive at relatively high temperatures. There are huge numbers being farmed in very tropical places that rarely get cool, including areas near the home waters of clowns. Since they are breeding naturally, they ...
