Help with a loach ID

Here is the best pic of the loach I could get so far. http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/oilhands/Loach%20River%20Tank/Winter%202008/17c5ee8e.jpg I am pretty sure it is either one of these guys. http://www.loaches.com/species-index/photos/p/Pangio_anguillaris_02.jpg/view I'm leaning towards P....

Did you say something to them Martin.. I know I would. I mentioned to one of the staff at my local shops the other day when they were selling the smallest, skinniest Sidths I have ever seen. They were about 10mm SL and 2-3mm deep and wide. I've seen bigger newborn livebearer fry.. Their response wa...

They are funny aren't they. This was really the first chance I had to see the pleco out eating. It was a nice treat. The yo-yo loaches are always a blast to watch, but the feeding is funny since they are such pigs. Oink. Oink. :)

I figured that if I wanted to use a manifold type design on my river tank and wanted a flow rate of 1 ft per second I would of needed a pump and plumbing that is capable of 96,000 gallons per hour. Herein lies the problem with conventional pumps. The Endless Pool works with what is basically a prop...

Would a larger array of pipes and intakes reduce the vortex? If the intake surface area was larger then the water would not be drawn so intensely into a small location. Perhaps something like a ladder with the rungs all slotted or drilled for intake, then covered with sponges. Collect all that wate...

Was it just a matter of tinkering with your powerheads until everything balanced out?

Eight days is a long time to get answers when you're talking about what's supposed to be a next-day delivery. Even more so given we are talking about living creatures. It sounds like the folks at his local Post Office know the difference and maybe even care. Shocking. I've thought about buying stoc...

[VIDEO] Feeding time in my river tank

Here are two videos of feeding time in my 125 gallon river tank. This is the first time I setup the camera and tried to capture feeding time. Sorry about the TV reflection, but I'll know better next time. http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=176150E93BAD34A5 The second clip has a plecostomus figh...

I'm not at all unhappy with your existing river tank manifold design. Curiosity just got the better of me when I got to thinking about what I was seeing in the tank. I figured that available tank space would be an issue for the creation of any kind of box and that any solution might be very complex....

River tank manifold water flow

I setup a river tank manifold similar to that which Martin has outlined for all of us. I just added some tall live plants last week and I am seeing circular/vortex water flow patterns similar to that discussed in the forums ( http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?t=16061 ) in recent days. I have a...

Great pictures. Nice fish. That one yo-yo loach looks fully reticulated and the other still has the yo-yo thing going on. Super stuff.

Nice loaches. I've been meaning to ask or maybe I forgot the answer, but did you get them loaches locally? Thanks. The two largest and oldest of my group of 10 I picked up 3 years ago at the Ypsilanti Fish Doctors. The other 8 I picked up over the last 6 months from the Adrian Fish Doctors which op...
