Re: Genetically poor weather loaches?

As far as I know these are not tropical, though there are a lot of species.

Re: Clown Loaches now 28 years old

They were purchased in Janurary 1995 and we know they are yearlings at the time of purchase.

Birthday is too precise a term in this case.

But the Happy Birthday sentiment is welcome.

Re: clown loach compatibility with angelfish, zebra loaches, yoyo and pleco

I keep Clown Loaches with some dither fish (Harlequin Rasbora Trigonostigma heteromorpha are the current ones and they are doing very well, the best so far).

Re: Help identifying a loach

The hovering you mention is I believe a sign of stress. Small Clown Loaches do it when first introduced. Not to be too down on your purchase but I feel obliged to offer the following. The loach you have purchased is a nocturnal species that you are unlikely to see often (especially as a social anima...

Re: Are weather loaches really unsuitable for tropical tanks?

I don't keep them but I have read some posts on here over the years. There are different species of Weather Loaches. Temperatures may vary over the year - a warmer temperature may coincide with the breeding season - it may be preferable to match these changes as it's probable that fish should not be...

Re: What dither fish do you use for your loaches?

I am currently enjoying a shoal of 15 x Trigonostigma heteromorpha (Harlequin Rasbora) with my six 27-year-old Clown Loaches (max size 11.5"). These appear to be my best dithers yet as they are active, colourful and easy to keep. I've had them 1 year. I started with 20 but a few were not well on pur...

Not much traffic on here. I suggest Clown Loach Fanatics (Facebook) https://www.facebook.com/groups/139544712868942/

Good luck.

Good news, you found a home for them.

Re: "Suddenly" Aggressive Golden Zebra Loach...Help Please

This problem could be a result of keeping this species (which I know as Yoyo Loach) differently to the care recommended. According to this website, which I feel is authoritative: https://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/botia-almorhae/ "As always, thorough research prior to selecting a community of fis...

Re: Release into pond

Only Misgurnus fossilis can survive outdoors in Britain and is therefore banned from sale as a result as it could potentially become an invasive species. It would seem to me most cruel to put an animal into an environment in which it cannot possibly survive. A donation to an individual or organisati...
