With practice you will be able to vacuum your substrate without collecting the sand, usually by holding your tube above the sand without making contact. There's usually no need to deep vacuum sand as any detritus settles on top, and not in-between. My tool of choice is an external filter intake pipe...

I had red cherry shrimp in with Sids and B. striata, and at one point was almost infested with shrimp. It soon changed once the cichlids went in.

Any chance of a photo? Even if it's from a phone, it may help. If the loach is young I doubt that it is gravid, B. striata appear to take a while to mature. The swimming motion you have seen is common with loaches, and has been dubbed the "loachy dance" here at LOL. You can read up more on this by d...

Then you've already been given your answer, your tank is too small for the medium to long-term care of the fish.

Three of what? If three Kubotai, then I think you've already been given your answer. Three is less than an ideal amount for a Botia species anyway.

I'm in agreement with Diana, and would go so far as to say, get the bigger tank first as it's the only way to ensure you will upgrade.

If stocking capacity & parameters allow, I would increase the number of B. striata instead.

As long as the temperature isn't raised for extended periods of time, the fish will be fine, especially if you increase the aeration in the tank to compensate for the lower dissolved oxygen content that warmer water brings.

I've had my tank up at 32°C for two weeks with no issues :)

I have a group of 14 and they got more reclusive as they matured. There's a lot of stones in my tank and they do like to stay within the shadows of the stones and any part of the tank where there's cover. It's a different story once there's food in the tank though :D

If you want to stop the chance of overheating for certain, you could purchase a separate thermostat to control your heaters, something along the lines of the ATC-300, or ATC-800:
