I'm by no means an authority on the subject, but every time my clowns behavior changes drastically it has meant there was something wrong. If possible it might be a good idea to ask your wife to move some stuff around and she if she can flush them out a get a look at them. If not, maybe ask her to s...

Thanks for your help. I went back to check since it's been 2 weeks. the babyish ones are not pink any more but still thin. I decided to skip them. At least I know sids are available here so I'll keep looking for healthier, older ones. After all these years I'm quite good at waiting ( besides now I'...

Thanks for the quick responses. It made sense that the tank water would be great for plants. My live in g/f has so many plants, so this should work ok pretty good.

Tank water for plants?

Would it be a good idea to use the tank water from water changes for plants around the house? I would think so, isn't the water "fertilized" by the fish?

Thanks

Great to see so many different takes on how to feed the same food. I can't wait to try Martin's recipe. In addition to the frozen blood worms I also have been using frozen white mosquito larve. I also feed Hikari food almost exclusively (frozen and other).....except for the Omega One veggie tablets....

How do you feed frozen food to your loaches?

As the subject says, how do you feed your loaches frozen foods? Personally I tend to thaw whatever the food is (usually bllod worms or mosquito larve) in a small cup of tank water and then use a turkey baster to spot feed the fish. Using the baster I also like to "inject" a little bit of the food in...

Only the one... I was a teenager, knew nothing about it and popped it into my 10 with a betta. The end results were not pretty, but they have fascinated me ever since. That's funny (not what happened to the betta, the situation itself) because my g/f had the great idea to drop her betta in with my ...

I used to have a school of 8 tiger barbs in with my clowns. The clowns seemed to like them and often the smaller clowns would school with them :D Now there are a school of rummy nosed tetras. These guys stay pretty small and school constantly. With the yoyos I have there is a school of rummy nosed t...

Crazy!!!

That's crazy....

My g/f was looking over my shoulder while I was looking at this and gave me "the look". You know, the "don't even think about it" look!

I love it!

How much time would you say you spend on maintenance in a given week?

Thanks! It's a 20 high. I have a 20 long that is a livebearer tank with 3 platies and 5 guppies. I don't think they would fit well in there, but perhaps I could swap tanks-- move the 8 livebearers into the 20 high, and have the loaches in the 20L. That's probably a good idea. If you have two 20 gal...

Clowns w/shrimp?

Is it safe to add glass or cherry shrimp to a tank with clowns or will the clowns think I've added a live snack to the tank? The biggest of the clowns is about 4 inches. Also, there is a lot of flow in the tank (55 gallons; Fluval 304 canister, AquaClear 50 power head and an Emperor 400 w/bio wheel)...

Re: Botia morleti-- Skunk Loach

I am interested in keeping skunk loaches. I have a 20 gallon tank already cycled. Could I keep skunk loaches in a 20, or do they need a larger tank? If so, how many? What would be a good "upper level" species to keep with them? Danios? Tiger Barbs? Welcome. Is the tank a standard 20 or a 20 long? I...

Re: Hey Jeff...

Hi Jon, Sure, loachforum.com would be great! Have you actually registered it yet? I still show it as available, although usually it takes a few days to appear. Eventually, I'd like to have the domain transferred to me, if you're willing to do that. But I imagine that will take a while to go through...
