I have 18 clowns in a 5x2x2 and feel that it is too small for the larger ones. I have 1@9", 1@7", 6@5", 3@4" & 7 between 2"&3", what size tank would you recommend I transfer these guys into? I plan to order a bespoke tank in January and have a wall set aside that is 8' long, I was thinking an 8x2x2....

Thanks everyone for your comments, prior to throwing frozen cubes in last night I have been defrosting in boiled water & then rinsing through an old tea strainer. I think I will revert to this process as it appears most of you agree that this (or similar) is the best practice.

Thanks again.

Frozen Bloodworm

Hi there, Do any of you use frozen bloodworm? I have always used frieze dried & occasionally live but I have recently started buying the frozen stuff as it is so cheap at my lfs. I first started putting it in my tank after defrosting it in boiling water but I put it straight in last night frozen, mu...

Hi there, Cucumber always makes my clowns click (big & small), all my little fellas (Clowns, Striata, yoyos & modesta) click when munching on algae wafers. I am no expert but it does appear to be their biting that causes the noise as they only seem to make the noise when biting on cucumber & wafers!...

Where in Kent are you? you say your lfs has a pair of clowns at 8" and I am interested in getting a couple of bigger clowns to keep my big fella company in my new 140G tank.

I am in Hants so the journey wouldn't be too long or stressful on them.

Yasuhikotakia modesta

Hi there, Does anyone know of a lfs in the south of England where i might be able to buy a pair of 4/5"+ Yasuhikotakia modesta? I used to have a pair of them some time ago but one met with an unfortunate end by leaping out of the tank during the night. I bought a pair of babies to keep my one remain...

Frequent water changes in the run up to the change is a good plan, I once moved my 5x2x2 tank into a different room & siphoned 50% of the water into cannisters which I emptied into my bath (making sure it was free from contaniments). It was then very easy to siphone the water straight from the bath ...

Cheers, I agree he must be male. I nearly lost him a couple of months ago. He was loosing weight so fast and spent all his time looking lifeless. I changed his diet to more fresh foods and kept treating with Melafix and he has put most of the weight back on. The catfish either sits in that exact spo...

My two latest additions had this for approximately a week, I think it was from fighting with the already established alpha male as I saw them locking jaws a number of times. It has cleared up now they have given up trying to usurp him.

It is 5'x2'x2', very well planted with twice as much filtration as required, I still feel that it is overstocked though. My wife has agreed to replace it next January with an 8'x2'x2' tank (can't wait)!!
