I have 8 that burrow extensively. I have only had them a couple of months and they are seen above ground more now than they were before. For the first couple weeks I had to search just to make sure they were alive. Now if I feed them and wait I can usually spot all 8 coming out of the gravel within ...

It will very from species to species. There are about 60 species in the Pangio genus, I think. Most of them top out at 3 to 4 inches but some species and older specimens may exceed that. If you find fish advertised as "kuhli" loaches that are considerably longer they are probably a different type of...

Gastro pics
I finally got one of my new gastros to cooperate with me me to take so decent pics. If anyone has some thoughts on species I would appreciate the input. I know the fins aren't raised so it may be difficult. http://images1.snapfish.com/346924984%7Ffp346%3Enu%3D3278%3E956%3E455%3EWSNRCG%3D323368428497...

I would get 6 but I tend to go light on stocking levels, you could probably get 8 but don't put anything else in the tank. I have a 25 that am am hoping to get my Pangio oblonga (black kuhlis) to spawn in. I have 6 right now and will probably add 2 to 4 more. Shipping stress takes its toll mostly in...

Mixing species doesn't seem to be a problem for Pangio species. They will all hang together. If you get 'regular' kuhlies you may get several different species anyway as they are often mixed. I agree that the more the merrier but would keep at least 3 with 6 to 8 being better. More than that would b...

I went to my lfs today and they had some 'boreo suckers' that I believe were Gastros and I got this feeling that I need a river tank for these hillstreams, only $8 each is within my price range. I used to think they were lame fish until I found LOL and realized that they are loaches kept in suboptim...
