Re: Buy an extra clown loach, yey or ney.
Gorgeous fish!! Love the update! Thanks Basil. I hope there'll be more good updates in the years to come :) Wow!! they've all come long way. They look great, keep it up! Thanks Nancy. Yes, they're growing slowly but surely and I've been lucky with them being all healthy and problem free. I hope it ...

Re: Videos. Cyst bursting. Silver Dollar (lives with loaches)
Hopefully the fish heals itself. I know its been said, but I'd step up some water changes big time, at least within the next week while the wound is closing back. You may want to consider some daily water changes....or whatever you can manage, the more the better. If you're to use bacterial meds, be...

Hi Fran, it must be a nightmare watching your fish like that. A few points I have which you might want to have a look at: ULCERS **Refers to open sores on the fish's body. Usually caused from the bacterium Vibrio that forms a lump on the fish's skin and eventually hemorrahages. The ulceration gives ...

Good luck with your bunch.
By the sounds of it you are on the right track and you already take great care of them. They are lucky fish to have you.

Re: Different growth rate in the “teensy” clowns
Hey Fran. Someone may have better explanation but from my personal experience with clown loaches, they do actually tend to flash from time to time without actually being sick. It is something I have noticed over the years that used to bother me at the start. I have theories that at times it is indee...

Re: Different growth rate in the “teensy” clowns
I am not sure where you're getting your info about the frequency of dosing but it sounds incorrect. Generally, if you have de-wormed your fish once, they only need to be de-wormed again if you have introduced new un-quarantined fish, and it is more of a preventative to protect your old fish. After t...

Re: Different growth rate in the “teensy” clowns
Clown loaches grow at different rates. From the first group of 5 I bought 7 years ago there is now 5 inch difference between the largest and the smallest from the same group. It is never a good idea to over-medicate your fish. I think you've dosed those fish way too many times now. Mine didn't see m...

Re: Planning my new 29 :)
The bigger the tank you can house and afford, the better to start with, even if you've never had a tank before. For the 29G a school of khuli loaches will do well, especially on their own or with some smaller top dwelling school. I've kept them in a fully planted tank and also in a tank with leaf li...

If you mean a parrot cichlid, please refrain from supporting thos who created such a miserable creature. It derived from Amphilopus labridens or A citrinellus, a slender, fast swimming fish, into a thing with bend spine, not closing opercula which is not able to even breathe properly, let alone swi...

Re: Update on my loaches! With video
Nice! Nothing better than argumentative loaches  On a side note, you can avoid the food arguments by feeding small pellets. New Life Spectrum and Northfin do really good quality food and for the size of your loaches the 1mm pellets will do them well. I started doing that years ago with my clown...
