Re: Fighting algae in a plantless river flow tank? Should I?
I use a razer blade to scrape off the hard algae I do not want on the walls. I let it grow on the other three (back to two sides) but the front is scraped every water change. Just make sure not to scrape too close to the silicone.

Re: Stiphodon atropurpureus (blue neon gobys?)
If you can get Repashy, the gobies will eat that. Before I tried Repashy, I gave my gobies Mazuri gel food (for herbivores). The Mazuri is almost like the Repashy but my gobies prefer the Repashy. Mazuri can be found/order in other countries too unlike the Repashy where it is mostly in the US. The g...

Re: Stiphodon atropurpureus (blue neon gobys?)
70 is okay. In winter, my tank gets to the high 60s. Summer is usually in the mid 70s even with a fan blowing across the top. Yes, they love to dig especially near large rocks. I keep my rocks in eggcrate as the gobies might move around the rocks which can fall. I rarely see any of my gobies at nigh...

Re: Stiphodon atropurpureus (blue neon gobys?)
Same requirements as any other stiphodon. Just have plenty of algae for them to graze and other foods with a high oxygen rate.

Re: What is wrong with this Hillstream?
I know this answer is late but the loach was not sick from the fins. I find that sewellias tend to have fins like this once in awhile. It will go away. I believe the term used is shedding and remember there was a thread on here somewhere that talked about it. Here is the thread: http://forums.loache...

Re: Hypergastromyzon
That's weird. My gastromyzons tend to hold their ground when the sewellias try to bully them. Add more hiding places or rocks so that they can get away for the sewellia. Good luck. I hate seeing fish chase each other too!

Do you ever see the barbs or danio picking on the loaches?

Try http://www.franksaquarium.com
He can usually get you most of the fish you want, especially from Asia. Frank is not shipping right now though because his weather is not so great with snow. You can send him an email or post on his forum/index to see if he has what you want on his lists.

Re: Creating a mini river set up for hillstreams
Four should be good. Trust me, they will appreciate the space as the males will chase the females. One loach will pick its favorite spot and chase others who go near it. I do not use Aqadvisor because they usually use the 1 inch per gallon rule and not the adult size of the fish. Less stock can also...

Re: Creating a mini river set up for hillstreams
I find that my loaches prefer sand as they can dig or shift it around easily. The sewellias like shifting through the sand for food when I do not put it in their dish. The sand I have does not get picked up by the filter intakes or powerhead as it is a little heavy. Not sure what brand as my LFS had...

Re: Erromyzon digging
Thanks. The reason I ask is that the old pseudogastromyzon myersi, I had, did not dig this much. I guess it is time to fix some rocks next time.
