Re: Gastromyzon ID / Stiphodon compatibility
I'm not sure how compatible the knight goby will be with the stiphodons but will try to answer your other questions. 1) It looks like G. ctenocephalus but may be G. scitulus as the picture is not too clear. Can you get a picture of it from the top? 2) I'm guessing G. stellatus as I have a gastromyzo...

Will sewellia species breed together?
I plan to put 3 different sewellia species in a tank together but have no clue if they will breed, creating hybrids. Will sewellia lineolatas breed with the "spotted" ones? If they do, I may have to keep only one species or start another tank which I do not want to do. I tried googling but so far no...

Re: 40g breeder vs 55g
Yep. My brother is using it for his grow outs. The 15g fits my shelf so that was the biggest I could go on the sewellia grow out tank. I do not build my own stands too as I will most likely hurt myself. I'm not a creative person :D. I buy the metal ones that Petco sell in their stores or the wood on...

Re: 40g breeder vs 55g
I was planning on getting a 75g or 90g but they cost over $240 for the tank itself. Used tanks, locally, are priced too high especially the larger ones. I see 10 gallon tanks go for $80  . Also, if I get a 75g+, it will have to be in the living room where a lot of my parents' friends' play. The...

40g breeder vs 55g
I have a empty 55g and was wondering if it is better to put the hillstream loaches in the 55g or just keep them in the 40g breeder that they're already in? I have a total of 2 powerheads and 2 filters for water movement/filtration. I only keep hillstream fish (stiphodons, sewellias, gatromyzons) tha...

Gastromyzon ID
Not sure if it is a gastromyzon ocellatus or farragus. I'm leaning towards the ocellatus beacause the spots look to stop at the end of its tail but would like your opinion. The gastromyzon was mixed in with some ctenocephalus. Best photos I can get of it: http://i586.photobucket.com/albums/ss306/shu...

Re: Juvenile sewellia attacking adult
Yes, in their old tank, this didn't happened until I moved them into the new tank. I did add more rocks and cover but maybe not enough. The juveniles will be going to a new owner in a few days so they won't be bothering the females anymore. Most of the time now, it's just fighting between the juveni...

Juvenile sewellia attacking adult
I notice today that the juveniles in the tank were picking on the adult females. The juveniles are less than an inch (half the size of the adult females in the tank). I observed them following the females and trying to bully them, 'topping' the adults. Two or so juveniles would corner a female and t...

Yes, from his thread and the information from seriouslyfish.com, it looks to be a 'rainbow'. Now, I just need to find females as I only have males right now .

Re: Stiphodon ID
Yea, I thought so too. It was labeled as a 'marbled goby' at the store. Haha, hopefully it will show some of its colors soon to see if it is a 'rainbow'.

Stiphodon ID
I'm pretty sure it's a stiphodon but not sure which one. They're a lot bigger than the stiphodon percs I had. Any help in IDing is appreciated. They haven't been changing colors so I can't tell by that. Here is the photo of it (best one I could get): http://i586.photobucket.com/albums/ss306/shuwae/D...

Re: 50cm hillstream with stiphodon , what loaches should I t
When I had stiphodon percs in my tank, the males were very territorial to other males and females. Even though they are small, they need space to get away from each other. They ignored other fish but not their own. I agree with Jim that you should get either the gobies or gastromyzons as both are te...

Re: Hillstream loach fry! Unexpected!
I don't think you will be overrun if you have other fish with them. Most of the eggs will probably get eaten by other fish or the fry. I have fry too and am pretty sure the older fry are eating the new eggs as I haven't seen many newer fry out even though my group spawn twice a week. As Jim mentione...

Re: Suitable accommodations for Sewellia Lineolata?
That sounds like enough for the sewellias. I keep my group of 5 in a 23 gallon tank with a Eheim 2215 canister and a 425 GPH powerhead. How much watts does your tank have? You may need to add more lighting to grow the algae. I first started out having low lighting and would grow algae in a separate ...

Re: How long should I wait after sewellia lineolata breed
I found 11 good sized fry like the photo posted. The older ones are about 1cm now. Already acting aggressive to each other too. Male hasn't been breeding this week. Not sure why not but I haven't had the chance to sit and watch them so maybe I missed it.
