When we talk about removing salt, we are talking about water changes... right?

Just want to be clear.

And what would be considered very slow. 10% changes without adding salt?

Ok, just to clarify. I need 2 teaspoons per gallon, which for me (75g) is somewhere around 140 teaspoons. (Assuming at least 5 gallons of displacement from driftwood, substrate, etc and lowering the level to get splash.) Now, doing this over... lets say 3 days... would I just add this in thirds? 46t...

Ohhhhh heck, beats me if it is really ich. :? It's a best guess at this point. I'm not seeing a breakout in the main tank... just the flashing (still going on) and those 1 or 2 spots on the loaches (which I'm not sure are still there). The fish I moved to the hospital tank seem to have more classica...

24 hrs later the ph has dropped down within measurable range of the high range test. 8.6ish Going to leave it out for another 24 hours and will post again. Tanks in various states of distress right now. Skinny loach really looks like he won't make it - no signs of ich though. The hospital tank, with...

Well, the reason to use Ich Attack is because it's safe to use since you don't know if this is ich or not. Yeah, I'm on board with the Ich Attack... I just mentioned the fish store guy because I got a kick outta his attitude. Him carrying a product in his store, telling me it is crap, and then tell...

Man, I really don't know how you guys pull off the clear/closeup photos that you do. Mine do not come out even remotely close to that. I'll try to get some shots of my poor hospital tank fish. I do have some Flub, from Dr. Harrison. Picked it up because I have a skinny loach who refuses to fill out....

I struck out finding a test kit at local shops that include KH/GH All they seem to have are the strips, those funky little card type notifier things you are supposed to suction cup and leave in the tank (do those really work?), and the kit I current have... which is the API drop bottle kit that only...

Chef, This potentially explains the last big tank blow up I had. At the time we blamed it on an "unexplained" ph crash. We were convinced it was due to either driftwood, Amquel, the platy population explosion we experienced that summer... or some combination of the 3. But what it probably was was th...

Thanks Diana. I feel like I am in wait and see mode (no pun intended) with the eye. I can't imagine adding yet more meds to the tank. It almost looks like he has an ich spot on his eye... like a small grain of white sand got stuck in there. Maybe it is a fluke, maybe the white spot on my loach isn't...

Lost 2 Rasboras today. I saw no visible signs of Ich on either. Wouldnt suprise me if the meds and water changes stressed them into this. I changed up ich meds from Rid Ich+ to Ich Attack (herbal organic). The loaches 'seem' to have gained some energy. But so hard to tell. Went out an bought a UV st...

Well that blows my mind. I really had no idea there were different types of ich - that is the first time I've heard it. I'm also surprised that they seem to suggest the 3-4 day type is less common than the 1 to 2 week type. That seems to fit exactly what I am seeing. I called the local petsmart (clo...

I spoke too soon on the flashing. Saw some more tonight. Could be related to the big water change I guess. The lone 'ich spot' is on the side of the loach, in the tan part of his stripes, right before the last black stripe. I tried to take a few photos earlier today. None of them came out so great. ...

Recap: Saw flashing several days before. Saw white spots. Added Rid Ich May 18 See only 2 spots now, and these have been there since Day 1. Current (new) symptoms: Cards with white blotch, twitchy, die. Locahes with white stringy stuff trailing from fins. Thanks Diana. A straight forward recap like...
