Thanks, Diana. I found Shari's article and now have a better understanding of how wormers work. I am hoping to buy some Striatas from my LFS today or tomorrow so I will need the Flubenol. By 'antibiotics' do you mean stuff like anti-velvet? I wonder whether it would be worth having a stickie on how ...

Thanks Diana and Mick. It sounds like I should leave well alone with my existing Clowns. I intend to move them to a bigger tank and add other loaches, so with the new fish that is when I'll use the wormer, in quarantine. Diana, I didn't realise that the worms have to be treated in stages, I assumed ...

Should Wormer (Flubenol) be used routinely?
I have purchased some Wormer Plus from Plymouth Discus thanks to a reference from tender - thanks. The shop's website suggests using the product every month for discus. It says it can be added to tanks with no negative consequences for filters, plants etc. I have six healthy Clown Loaches who are fe...

LED Lights for Loaches
IKEA LEDs Not sure if anyone has mentioned these before, but IKEA in the UK do a range of LED strips called ‘Dioder’. These are pricey - £29 each - but use hardly any power once installed, and create a nice low-light twilight effect. I have two strips, and they come on before the fluorescents in the...

Hi Ashleigh, Thanks for the advice. I didn't lay out my information as clearly as I could - my Clowns are only three inches. The fact that no-one has advised me to upgrade with 3" fish suggests to me that I don't need a bigger tank for a few years yet - maybe until they reach 4" or 5" or so. It does...

At what size do Clowns need a 6 foot tank?
I have a 48x15x18, 47 UK gallon/ 212 litre tank. I have six three-inch Clowns and I am beginning to wonder if the tank may be too small for them. I have read on this forum that keeping Clowns in too small a tank stunts them, with bad consequences for their health and life expectancy. At what size wo...
