Re: Are golden dojo loaches different to other dojo varietie
You can safely put the brown mottled dojos in with the golden dojo. They're still dojos, and they should get along fine.

Re: LOACHES FAKING DEATH -- VERY STRANGE!
Weather loaches will behave similarly -- playing dead, then darting away, laughing at you, when you approach. Well, maybe not laughing at you ... though if I were a loach and played that kind of trick, I'd find it funny, LOL! Seriously, it's probably a natural defensive behavior to fool potential pr...

Re: I need a loach, but not just any loach
For those of us in the U.S., what is the U.S. gallon equivalent of 144 litres? And those dimensions in cms -- what would that be in inches? We don't do metric over here ...

Re: Other species to keep with dojo?
I would like to know what species of cory that is which does well in colder tanks. I have two aquariums with cold water fish in them, and would love to add cories, but the only ones I know about are tropical. Can you enlighten me on the species that isn't?

Re: Other species to keep with dojo?
First, you are NOT a criminal by keeping a loach you purchased when it was perfectly legal to do so. Our Constitution prohibits "ex post facto" laws which punish people for doing things that were legal when they did them but become illegal later. If you cross the border into a state where it's still...

FEMALE DOJO: "Quack, quack. What did you expect a duck to say?" 1ST MALE DOJO: "That's not original! Mama told u...

Re: Filtration
Two pieces of advice: First, don't rinse your media in tap water with Prime. Rinse it in your siphoned tank water. You don't need Prime for that. You'll still need to use it in the new water you fill your tank with. Second, if you haven't already, put a prefilter sponge on your Aquaclear's intake tu...

1ST MALE DOJO: "Hey! Look at THIS! A new log in our tank!" 2nd MALE DOJO: "Oh, really? Take a closer look . . ." FEMALE DOJO: "why?" 1ST MALE DOJO: "It's not real wood!" FEMALE DOJO: "So, what? It's a nice cave for us." 1ST MALE DOJO: "Yeah, but we're special. We deserve a REAL log!" 2nd MALE DOJO: ...

Re: LIVE BRINE SHRIMP
I use frozen brine shrimp for my Dojos and other community fish. I let it thaw in a plastic cup until it's soft and mushy, then put it into the tank. I've had Dojos devour it almost instantly, and there's enough in a frozen cube so that everyone gets some. What falls to the substrate the Dojos eat, ...

Re: True abino weather loach is a bottomless pit
From what I'm seeing in the pictures, your albino is vastly larger than your spotted dojo. Your albino is obese. I would suggest temporarily transferring him to a separate cycled tank with water parameters matching his regular tank, and start putting him on a diet, there. Only feed him every other d...

Re: Jumping loach!
If they're anything like dojo loaches, they will try to escape the tank. Dojos do, for sure, and it's quite possible that this is a more generalized loach trait. All you can do is keep the tank well covered and seal up any and all holes large enough for him to fit through. It sounds like your blue l...

Re: Dojo loaches
My dojos will eat just about anything I give them. They only eat my snails if the snails die. Living snails are safe around them. They can pull in their operculums and seal themselves off tightly so nothing can get at their soft tissues. I have Nerite snails in with my dojos, along with Ramshorns an...

1st MALE DOJO: "WOW! What a clean window, now that Mama has removed those diatoms!" 2nd MALE DOJO: "She cleaned our filter, too -- but it's STILL NOISY!" SILVERTONE: "Well, at least the power's back on. Let's hope that barometer stays stable for awhile. These contortions we go through are grueling!"...
