Re: Zebra loaches

The one thing I did notice is your fish have a really dark base colour ,almost black where my own Striata seem more brown ,could it be the lighting or are they pretty dark :?:

Are these your only Botia's/loaches or do you have others :?:

Re: Botia striata in large groups

Hi noki , I have a group of about 15 ? [I've forgoten the exact amount] they are a pretty hardy little fish ! in my experience they seem to get a little darker as they age but in a nice way :) they seem to interact all the time , mine are in a 48x18x18 tank with plenty of wood and tubes over a sand ...

Re: Just Got a (True) Siamensis

Hi Fran , just a bit curious as to your definition of a Flying Fox ?the fish we refer to as the Flying Fox is E.kalopterus which also has the lateral band extending through the middle of the caudal fin ! Perhaps you mean Gara Cambodgiensis sometimes refered to as an algae eater , a Fox like fish tha...

Re: Just Got a (True) Siamensis

Hi Fran if your fish are the same as the one in Dave's pic then I would keep them as a group :) they may have a loose pecking order but not aggresive, in fact I've always kept them as a group myself , currantly I'm down to two fish and they are fine , no aggression at all , I've also got seven C. re...

Re: Just Got a (True) Siamensis

A lot of fish keeper's tanks are overstocked ,but with experience and strict maintenance it can be done ! but if you are new to the hobby then try to stick within the guidelines , with respect if you are asking advice I'd guess you would be overstocked so keep up good maintenance and observation bef...

Re: Red Tail Shark

I think anyone who get into the hobby sooner or later ends up keeping RTBS's they're pretty irrisistable really , and quite beautiful to observe ,but they can be little devils :) I do think that Botia type loaches are ideal tank mates though , as they are strong and can defend themselves if nessesar...
