Well lets see if everyone can see the pics now. I realize the quality is not great but neither is the camera and the photographer is even worse.

Pangio javanicus pics

Well after many bad shots and lots of patience I have some pics of my P. j.'s to share. First some shots of my 5 year old that I believe is becoming gravid. If you agree or disagree I would like to know. Currently this one and another are in a 25g tank with 2 pearl gouramis and a clown pleco. When t...

mike, Are your P.j.s big or little. I watched my old timers extensively, they come out a lot and I saw no evidence of striping, I was looking very closely for stripes. I also think one is starting to become gravid, she has increased in girth over the last week significantly. No greenish abdomen thou...

I will keep my eyes open on the new P.j.'s for stripes. I am still trying to capture some decent photos of the new guys, quick little buggers! mikev, I did not mean to suggest that the stripes don't occur but merely to add my observations to the fray. I have had mine for quite some time and t...

I thought since everyone else is contributing that I may as well throw my two cents in. First off, this thread has peaked my interest in Pangios even more. I have had 2 P. javanicus for about 5 years now, the only survivors of a batch of a dozen. They are very active and always come out for food. I ...

I have two redtailed zebra loaches from the same tank and same shipment at the lfs and they were different species. One is most likely Schistura sexcauda and the other is probably S. similis (check my other thread for a pic of this one). I also saw at another lfs some S. mahnerti and 1 or 2 unidenti...

Others may disagree but I would suggest a single Botia modesta (orange finned loach) like the one in Graeme's photo. I kept one for many years in a 20g and later a 55g. If provided with a large cave (mine loved a half of a terra cotta pot) they will exhibit many interesting loach behaviors like clow...

I could use some help identifying my Schistura

I picked this guy up a few weeks ago with what I believe is a Schistura sexcauda. Didn't even realize they were different until I got them home. I have perused the Schistura pics here and elsewhere and haven't been able to make an id. I hope the link works. http://www.winkflash.com/photo/imagew2.asp...

Mark,
lol, I'm working on it. I am in the process of setting up all 43 of my tanks (13 thus far). Loaches will definitely be the best represented.
I haven't seen the musky but there is a large bass statue in Ashland (my old stomping grounds).

Vaillantella maassi

:D I just picked up a V. maassi at the lfs today. they had 3 last week but only 1 left today :( It was only $8, I'm on the list for more if they get any. I will post some pics soon. Thanks to all (esp. graeme for the pdf) that posted on the previous V. maassi thread. The information was very helpful.

if you add more i would suggest at least 2 if not 3 or 4 more yoyos. it would also be a good idea to to rearrange the tank to break up the resident yoyo's territory. i would suggest 2 to 3 hideyholes per loach. i had 5 yoyos for many years and when they were in community tanks mostly ignored the oth...

i have used slate with loaches for years and it can work. if you take care in selecting your pieces the rough edges can be minimized. i will sometimes place a large piece directly on the bottom glass and build off that, it minimizes a lot of the burrowing that can cause injury. i also use wood, shel...

sorry glos, i just read your previous thread, i assume same tank. personally i would try quarantining the sick fish in a separate tank. i am not big on meds and since you're on the 4th dose i would say they aren't working. my advice would be to try doing water changes every other day of 20 to 25 %, ...

Can you give us some more info. Tank size/ inhabitants, symptoms other than rapid respiration. It would help with the problem. In my opinion more frequent water changes usually help though.
