Thanks. I probably will try it. I hate the idea of moving him alot, but I'll be able to grow snails in the other tank again...

Opinions needed (long post)

For anyone who didn't hear the story: I had a heater go wild and cranked the heat up in my 90 gallon tank. The only fish affected was my Alpha Clown Loach (about 4 or 5 inches). He definately went blind from the incident, and proceeded to zip around the tank (which is full of rock hiding places) and...

Sorry to hear about all of this. I had a very similar problem. I have to admit, I didn't buy the most expensive heater, so I take the majority of the blame. Now I check the thermometer twice daily: when I get up and when I get home from work. Good luck. Keep in mind, the high temperatures may have k...

Unbelievable!

For anyone following my drama: I had my largest clown loach almost get boiled because of a faulty thermometer. He is recovering! We're still pretty sure that he's blind, but now he's eating and swimming around the tank. He's still very greyed out, and he has a lot of scratches and scars from running...

Thanks for the kind thoughts, but it isn't looking good. He's definately blind, and because of that, he keeps bumping into the glass and decorations. Every time another fish touches him, he freaks out (he practically buried himself at one point). He looks really tired, and spends a lot of time hidin...

Thanks Emma, I set up a second air stone, and put in my backup filter so that there's a little more movement in there. I don't have a powerhead, unfortunately. I have kept the lights off (to help reduce temp), but I will also keep it off to help the stress. I was going to add salt, but apparently th...

Oh No!

I had a malfunction with my aquarium heater yesterday, and the temperature shot up to over 90 degrees! It was probably at that temp for about six hours. Most of my fish seem okay, with the exception of my largest clown loach. He's swimming close to the top, has popped-out looking eyes, and seems to ...

Great looking fish. They'd go great with the Giant Danios, who have that same sort of shimmer. Thanks for your ideas.

Clown Loach needing neighbours

I'm looking for some ideas. I have a 90 gallon tank with two Aquaclear 110 filters (about 3 times the filtration that a tank like this would need). I have 5 clown loaches that are about 4", 2 giant danios at about 3.5" (pretty much their max size), 2 pictus catfish (3" each, their max is about 4"), ...

I did exactly the same thing, building hiding places out of rocks and holding them togethor with Aquarium Silicone. The clowns do seem a lot happier and more active. I made small wall out of slate that they can hide behind, because my cat runs up and gives them a scare every now and then. They go be...

The local "Big Al's Aquarium Warehouse" has a 10" Lep in with a couple of Silver Arawonas. The Lep got to them because he was so aggressive (although apparently he didn't get to be a problem until he was big).

Miss the snow? Insanity. I'm originally from Sault Ste Marie, I moved here so there would be less snow. As for the Ric-Ich, it can be used at full strength, only takes about 4 days, and has meant a full recovery for my clowns. I had a Pleco death a little while back that happened within a few days o...

I have used Rid-Ich through 3 Ich manifestations, and I've had no issues with the clown loaches at all.

I think you'll find that the loaches will be more visible if they had a bigger school (although that would mean that they would quickly outgrow your 30 gallon tank). Also, they are better if they have a lot of hiding places (ironically, the more hiding places, the more you see them). In my case, I h...
