Alot of people have had good luck buying fish online. I've order fish 4 times online. Aquabid.com usually has some nice loach auctions. There was a loach grab bag auction resently with some Kuhli's and some othe loaches, but that ended a few days ago. There are some Yo-Yo's up for auction right now.

I agree that this is a interesting question. It's something I've never though of. In the wild, I imagine that clowns do have enemies like other large predatory fish, croc's, large birds, turtles, and such where a chemical defense would come in handy. I also know that Clown Loaches are considered a f...

Oh wow. Incredible fat pics. Thanks Emma. It's funny. Some of tanks look empty sometimes when I have company over. Then I'll throw some food in the tanks and clowns are coming from out of woodworks in every direction. Then the kids are pointing and yelling, "Look at all those fish!" I can hear the a...

It all started when I got a few beaten up looking Clown loaches from a Cichlid Breeder on Aquabid. They were covered with black spots when I got them. That was last Febuary. If there were any behavior changes with the clowns, they were very subtle and I didn’t notice. I have lots of other fish in th...

Time? Lucky me, I don't have time for a girlfriend anymore. Some weeks I might slack off and only spend a few hours. Other weeks I can spend 6 hours easily in one day. I have prefilters on the inlets of the canisters. I squeeze them out a few times each week. Takes about 5-10 minutes to do all of th...

Do you have any pics of your clowns with the black spots? My clowns had a long terrible bout with a black spot outbreak that started back in February 2005 and lasted until September. What my fish had was not the same as the black spot disease which needs a snail and a bird to complete its life cycle...

The bridges at the current size won't be big enough for large clowns. I think these bridges will be good until the clowns are about 8" long. I could build larger bridges, but I don't plan on keeping huge clowns in these tanks. I want to move them to a big tank with maybe a water-bridge going to an i...

Thanks all. The clowns used the bridges alot before I went planted. They'd use them all day, everyday. Now they just seem to use the bridges during feeding times and during the night/early morning hours. Especially when they hint that some ramshorn snails may be in their grounds. Mostly, the clowns ...

Pic's are from Right to Left of my fishroom. To the right of this photo, is my 10 gallon grow-out Red Ramshorn Snailtank. IMO, attempts at triggering spawning could kill the fish. I wouldn't want to be responsible for that. Maybe some loaches, like clowns, need nearly pure water, with a gh <1, and a pH of 3.5 to 5 to induce spawning. These conditions could cause Osmotic or TDS shock to the fish if they were rushed into...

The story originated about 5 years ago from a member at aquariacentral.com. I don’t think the original thread is still archived though.

Here is a current thread that mentions the old story-

Can clown loaches reach full size in under 2 years?
Is it possible to raise clown loaches to full size in under 2 years? I keep clowns and I don't believe it's possible. I ask because there is an old story at another website that somebody use to get full grown clown loaches in under 2 years. It would grow to 8" in one year, and would attain full size...
