Diana,
Thanks very much for your reply. I'm glad I got your response before I bought the UV Filter Light.
Your response prompted another question, but before I ask I am going to re-read the sticky post about Ich.

Ich resurgance and UV Light
I had a bout with Ich in May, and was confident that after 21 days of treatment (with Malachite Green, higher temps, frequent gravel vacuuming, 50% WC every other day and increased oxygen) I did not see anymore evidence of Ich. So I reinstalled carbon filter, and reduced temp to 76-ish degrees, but ...

Good, that is what I thought, but I wanted some reassurance. On a related topic, is it safe to assume that Ich can also infect tiny snails that live in my 10gal plants tank? Some time ago I got about 20+ tiny snails from LFS to put into my plants tank to clean up the algae and such. I have been grow...

Ich and plants
OK so I am wrapping up my first encounter with Ich, I think I am on day 13 or 14, and there has been no appearance of an Ich resurgance. So I am pretty pleased about that. I used Malachite Green under the brand name "Nox-Ich." OK, I say that to ask this, I removed plants on day 8, as they had become...

 Chef, that is a lot of loaches!!! I have 4 Clowns, all juvenilles varying in size from 2-4 inches. They share their tank space and food with some other voracious fish, (2 gold gourami, 2 SA cichlids, 1 common pleco and 6 red eye tetra, and 4 neon tetra) so I am not sure exactly how much the ...

Just a couple of comments. 1. Are you feeding enough? I feed my growing clowns 3 to 5 times per day and they are hungry all of the time. They get a large variety of frozen and dry foods. They are about 4.5 inches long now. Be careful not to overfeed, but be sure that they are getting enough food. 2...

77 degrees is too cold for clown loaches. Their water should be at least 82 degrees. I keep my clowns at 86+ degrees with no problems, no aggression of any kind. Huh. OK, I guess I did not know that. Oh and when I came home last night I did see evidence of a loach attack. One of the Red-Eye Tetras ...

Marcos, I just re-read the article, I will check the water temp and such. I just dont think that my clowns are quite mature enough to breed. Of the 4 loaches I have 1 is about 4" and is the least active, the other three are maybe 3" at most. Now that I think about it, the hunting behavior really pea...

Aggressive Clowns
Thought I would bump this thread with an update on the increasing Clown Loach aggression toward tankmates. Since my last post in this thread, there have been a few changes, I added 5 small fish to the community tank, 3 different types of cichlids that were no more than an inch each and a pair of Ame...

I keep about 20 Neon Tetras and 20 Red Eye Tetra with my 4 Clowns. Best I can tell I am no missing any tetra, so I guess I am fortunate. I did notice that my Red Wag Swordtail looked a bit sluggish yesterday, and I expected to move him to my q-tank after work today s that I could observe him. Well, ...

Greying out is usually normal. I've seen them grey out on one side of my tank when the light is on, then turn dark immediately after swimming to the other side of the tank where the lights are off. Lighting, mood, activity, and stress plays a role in their color. If they are turning pale and lookin...

Discolored Clowns?
I know that Clowns will on occasion 'gray out', but I have noticed that the coloring on my clowns is just slightly faded. Can this be an indication of poor health?
