Re: Seeking good owner for two 20+ year old clown loaches (Southern Cal)
I recommend cut and paste to Facebook Clown Loach Fanatics. Hardly anybody listens here anymore. https://www.facebook.com/groups/139544712868942/

Re: Loach from my locality.
My Hillstream Loach was purchased 09/02/03 and passed away on 17/12/14.
I think that makes it 11 years and 10 months in my care.
I don't know how old it was when purchased from the LFS.

Re: Lone Rostrata in with Kubs
Yes I hope Emma will return one day and update us. She (and others here) did so much for Clown Loaches and their keepers at a time when information was chiefly absent and much of the available information was incorrect. It must have been tough being a pioneer with access to information that was cont...

Re: Lone Rostrata in with Kubs
Yes it's probably safest not to use the adjective "happy" to describe our fish because it's something we can't measure. About the lone rostrata, I'd rather say that I (rather than the fish) was or was not happy with the situation, perhaps on balance with points for and against. As aquarists we have ...

Re: Lone Rostrata in with Kubs
Sorry, I was busy on Facebook! But seriously, I don't know about those species because I never kept them. However, you will have a gut reaction about what you want to do. If I were in your position I would probably think that since it is not my fault that I have one of another species and it is happ...

Re: Clown Loaches now 27 years old
Hi Loachloach, good to hear from you I was awaiting your reply! I remember when I joined Loaches Online I was aiming for 20 years of age for my Clown Loaches, now I am aiming for 30! Why not?!! I am doing it the same outmoded (undergravel filter) and boring way (nothing much changes) as always! I al...

Re: Orion Joins the 20+ Club
Hard for me to say the gender. My females are bigger (10 to 11.5 inches), much fatter and behave differently to the males (6 to 8 inches). Having one fish is difficult to compare. I don't know if they develop the same if the opposite sex isn't present.

Re: Aquaclear 50 (402) Powerhead, Do I need the bubbles?
Hi NancyD please remind me what you are keeping in your aquarium hobby now? I can say with confidence that bubbling puts a lot more oxygen in the water than simply having surface movement without bubbles. But some surface movement seems to be an important part of an aquarists success though it needs...

Re: 125 gallon not big enough for clowns?
Keep your favourites as these will keep your interest and receive the greatest care. 125 gallons? There are different kinds of gallons. But either way it will be sufficient for a few Clown Loaches if not perfect. I have 110 US gallons or 90 UK gallons and my fish have reached 6 to 11.5 inches. When ...

Clown Loaches now 27 years old
:D :D Happy New Year! Obo is male, six inches long and 27 years old. https://i.imgur.com/5f2ZeU1.jpg https://imgur.com/12PbNRi https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G37dKk9_q3c&ab_channel=SuperRedshark1 Obo is the first Clown Loach I purchased in January 1995 as a yearling. Re: Aquaclear 50 (402) Powerhead, Do I need the bubbles?
Well what am I doing replying to such an old thread? Its just that I have tested out the last question and have an answer. My Clown Loaches breath much slower (that is the gill covers pumping the water) when I have the venturi bubbling away on my powerheads. So, I have learnt to love the bubbling so...

Re: Clown Loach Compatibility
In my opinion they are best in a good group of their own kind. To add other fish is to complicate matters and compromise the Clown Loaches. Keeping it simple has been the secret to success for me. We are lucky to have a large colourful easy to keep fish that is so compatible with other group members.
