Re: Gluing Plants on to driftwood

The good news is the pic is not on its side

The bad news is, however, that it is upside down

Re: Gluing Plants on to driftwood

Anubias, Java Fern take their nutrients out of the water by the leaves. Roots are only for staying put. However, the glue can contain haurmfull ingredients, but more importantly, your tank might be way different from wherever they were grown before. In such a case dynig back, and later regrow, would...

Re: Steel Framing

While I am not certain, I think making a metal frame will cost money, money which will not be saved by reduced glass costs Now a metal frame will add strength to the construction, and therefore thinner glass can be used - but as you said, the metal frame should be perfect to work, anhd how much glas...

Re: Which Additional meds for QT?

As ich is on the outside of the fish, not in the gut, feeding them with a medicated feed will not help at all.

Raising the temperature to 30 C might help. It will certainly help, but 30 C is a bit high for quite a few fishes / only the ones able to withstand 30 C will benefit from it.

Re: how to feed yoyo loaches cucumber

While I think the method is OK - but you could also just take a piece of whole cucumber (4 or 5 cm, that's 2 inches long) and stick a cheap fork through it in order to have it sinking.

I think the problem is doyo rather eats meaty things.

Re: loach talk!

Not at all, it was more thinking aloud.

Starting from the idea of needing the eggs to flush to safety, I realized this might help with this group.

The problem will be how to get the decoration adapted to this - as the pump is fixated in the tank.

Re: loach talk!

Trying to understand his suggestions, I have agrou0p of 10 Petruichthys brevis, where the males at times are very, bvery much interested in ther females, and other times hardly. I see, however, never any eggs - but the tank is not decorated to have egs flush away from the fishes - and there is a CA ...

Re: loach talk!

Almost all forums have people leving them for their personal reasons. Reasons other people normally never know about - and if they know about the reason, they sometimes don't even understand the problem. I think this man has his reasons notto come here, and we cannot do anything else then accept tha...

Indeed, much more fish die from too much food than from too little.

Re: how do i feed yoyo loaches while on vacation

Af mammals, such asd we, spend 90 % of what we eat on heating ourselves, 48 hrs without food con rather well be compared with 5 hurs without anything for us. No problem, what so ever. In fact, most tropical reverine fish have a month a year without much eating. Fish from lakes are different - the si...

Do you know what a blood parrot is? It descended from an Amphilophus citrinellum, but it has been destroyed by inbreeding. The spine is curved, the gills don't close. That is, the fish can't breath well, cvan't swim well - but being an A citrinellus it should want to be one of the swiftest swimming ...

Plant material. The very thing which make the water black. One among them is humic acid - this is partly decayed plants, large molecules with acid funtion an quite a few places. Now you might think acid = conductive, but atthe pH of black water, 5 or less, the humnic acid is - as we chemist call it ...

That's right. What a softener does, is exchange calcium and mangesium for sodium. Waterhardness has it's origiens in the laundry - calcium and mangesium hinder the effects of soap. Therefore hard water needed the use of more soap, and later the softening industry began. For us, hardness was basicall...
