Re: spawing clown loaches in USA
They gave some hints in their faq page: Why only tank-raised fish? We enjoy the research aspect in discovering and controlling all the variables which recreates the natural habitat of our fish and triggers the natural breeding cycle. Controlling these variables is much easier in a tank environment t...

Re: spawing clown loaches in USA
cool. thanks for the link! I'm going to need to figure out how to get mine to release their eggs. One of my large female Clown Loaches, Gracie, recently went dormant for about 3 months without eating. I think her eggs got impacted and during that time she must have reabsorbed her eggs, which is why ...

Re: what is the best lighting for clown loach??
I don't use any direct lighting on my loach tanks. Just residual lighting from overhead room lights, other tank lights, and light from windows. The loach tanks do have a light I can turn on when I do maintenance. These tanks have no algae growth, so maintenance is not too often. Loach tanks have ton...

Re: A True River Tank
Here's another video, but translated in English: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edMFUA6iMtQ In this video they explain that to get the unilateral flow, they have a double bottomed tank, where the water flows underneath the top-bottom, to the other side. That was actually one of Martin's ideas from y...

Re: Buy an extra clown loach, yey or ney.
I use floating cichlid pellets once a day to entice my loaches to get out in the open. At the surface, they get pretty loud clicking and slurping. Some will skim the entire perimeter of the tank looking for food. Others just rush up to the top, grab some food, then dart back down to the bottom. One ...

Re: Moving, chance to do some upgrades?
LED's are awesome. If you're good with DIY projects, you can get LED kits for about $20 on Ebay. You can get a dimmer remote control for another $6 also. If you have any used 2.5 to 5 amp Power Adapters, like from old printers you can use them, instead of buying new ones, which will save a few bucks...

Re: Buy an extra clown loach, yey or ney.
Once they get to about 6" their orange/black colors start dissipating. As they grow larger than that, gaps begin to form in their black stripes. Re: Buy an extra clown loach, yey or ney.
They'll sometimes get a callous on their snout when they dig/explore too much. It usually heals in about a week or two. I think you got one very happy loach there. Probably thinks he's in paradise after what he went through before you got him.
