Compatiblilty loach/smaller fish

Post by noahm » Thu Jul 06, 2006 10:24 pm

I am looking to include a school of 5-10 larger fish in a 210 gal tank. I am wondering if there are any medium/large loaches 5-10" that will not eat tetras, corys etc. If anyone has experiences (good/bad), please share.
The tank is theoretical at this point :)

Clowns would be the first choice, they get big, (8-12"), and are very friendly to other tankmates, but it takes a long time to grow them to that size (talking years here), and its near impossible to buy them that big.

Thanks. Clowns were one of my first choices. I don't mind them small, but I do want something that will get 6" or better ultimately. I just didn't know how friendly they were to little tankmates.

What about Dojo/Weather Loaches? They can get to 6 inches and I have found them to be a very peaceful fish.

dojos are usually kept in unheated tanks, though I have to say mine are unbothered by the summer heat. They don;t school as such, though they do hang about together...

If you plan to have cories, then yoyos wouldn't be a good idea. But only because they are so rowdy,

Bala Sharks get really large.

I have always kept my weather loaches in heated tanks with no problems.
