The little loaches that never grow

Post by raecarrow » Sat Jun 20, 2009 9:43 pm

I have two small yoyos (both about 2 1/2 inches long) who have not grown AT ALL since I've gotten them. One I got a year ago, the other i got about 8-9 months ago. The one I have had for a year has slightly pinkish undertones in his skin and the other is so white he is almost irridescent. They both look very lively and healthy (besides the not growing thing)

The same goes for the one zebra loach I have. He was my first loach and I've had him for about 14 months. He is about the same length as the yoyos and hasn't grown at all since I got him.

Their tank mates, 3 yoyos and a Kub, have all grown since I've gotten them (except the Kub who I have had only a month so I haven't had a chance to see him grow) and these three yoyos are fairly larger (all are 4-5 inches long) then the little guys.

I am wondering if it is a problem with being able to thrive in an environment with the larger guys or what.

I tried to get pictures off all the guys, but I was only able to get pictures of the little white toned guy and the zebra. I apologize for the poor quality, but I took the pics with a cell camera.

Any insight you can give would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks!

it is really hard to say why some loaches don't grow...
in a batch of histies I've owned 4 years one is at least three times the size of the rest of them.
