ghost shrimp for kuhlis?

Post by Donna » Tue Aug 18, 2009 4:23 pm

Would my kuhlis enjoy snacking on a couple of ghost shrimp?

Mine have enjoyed a hearty snack of Corydoras Septentrionalis, but it might help if the shrimp are actually dead.

Kuhlis will eat Corydoras catfish?? They seem pretty patient with the frogs, even when sharing food.

I'm going to PetSmart today, if they have ghost shrimp I might get a couple as an experiment. There's no chance the shrimp could harm my beloved kuhlis, or the tiny ADFs?

I have ghost shrimp with my African Dwarf Frog and Kuhlies with no problems. Make sure you don't accidently bring home a Whisker Shrimp. We get a lot of Whisker shrimp in Florida, because they wash into the fish ponds at the fish farms during storms.

I love Whisker Shrimp, but they grow much bigger and stronger than ghosts. I can't imagine a Kuhlie eating a ghost shrimp. I would only get the ghost shrimp to act as part of your clean up crew.

I sprinkle frozen daphnia and baby brine shrimp in my kuhlie tank so they can sift it out of the sand.

I give my Kuhlii's freese dried krill (1cm shrimp) every now and then, they absolutly go bonkers over them!

Brine shrimp, dapnia work pretty wel to.

I have not had the chance to give them live shrimp.
(I keep live shrimp, it woudn't work if I fed those now would it)

OK, I brought home six small Ghost Shrimp (1/2 to 3/4 inch long) and tossed them in, expecting some excitement.
It was a fizzle. Nobody, not even the Angelfish, is the least bit interested in the shrimp, who are quite happy to hang out in the cave with the kuhlis and frogs. Cave's getting pretty crowded, but no one seems to mind.

Mine all live in harmony. Your ghost shrimp will reproduce and the others may enjoy a snack of shrimplets.

My 3 Kuhli are all plump from living happily with a colony of Red Cherry shrimps in a 14G.
The shrimps population is kept in check and Kuhlis are happy.

The kuhlis didn't kill the cories. Their (the cories') cadavers merely were too good a meal for the kuhlis to miss.
