My baby loach

The coolest thing happened when I was cleaning my fluval filter last week. I was taking out the sponges and this worm started slithering around in some of the icky stuff under the sponge. I was very concerned that I had a parasite living in my tank. I picked it up with a papertowel and put it in a cup of water from the tank. I couldn't believe it when I got a better look and saw that it was a brown spotted 1 1/4 inch loach. The egg must have been sucked into the filter and hatched there. I have two female gold dojo loaches and one male spotted loach. The baby took after his daddy. He is living in a 10 gallon tank until he gets a little bigger. I'm afraid my goldfish would make a snack out of him. I've read that loaches rarely breed in fish tanks so I was pretty excited!

congrats. I recently set some piles of rocks in the corners of my tanks. I figured that the sand substrate I have is not a good hatching ground for any loach eggs, so I'm hoping the rock piles will give them some shelter and safety.

Awww...so cute.

Our lfs has some new kuhli loaches. They are tiny!!! They squirm away on the gravel, and they are about an inch.....so cute. They are not even 1/2 of a cm (up and down) while they are on the gravel.

The little striatas are soooooo cute. They are also and inch. They love swimming over the little piece of driftwood in their tank.

I have three 1" striatas and they are seriously cute.

But I can't imagine how ciool it would be to find a baby loach in the tank.

And a Dojo at that.

How big are your dojo's? And how do you know which is female?
I have a regular 6-7 inches and a golden about 4-5 inches.
I read something about the fins being different shapes, wondering at what size this is noticable.

My male is 6" and the females are both 5". I read that the males have longer pectoral fins. My male has super long pectoral fins and the other two have fairly short fins so I'm hoping that I'm right. I at least know I do have a male and a female.
