Tanichthys albonubes in hill stream aquariums
Hi,
In many videos on the web I usually see asides the expected hill stream fish also a shoal of Tanichthys albonubes.
Is there any reason why they inhabit this fish in particular? Might it be because of the low temp?
Thanks.

White Clouds (Tanichthys) are a common fish in hillstream tanks because of the temperature and also the high current levels.
But, they are not the only fish that are good to use in hillstream tanks. Many of the danios, chelas, rasboras, etc, also do well because of the current and temperature preferences they share with hillstream loaches.

Good to choose tank mates that have similar needs, and WCM are a good choice and commonly available.

They do need resting areas from the current, though.

I think they are an interesting species, but I wouldn't put them in a river tank.
If you want something different, try one of the chela, or Indian hatchet fish species. They like the current and have some similarities to South American Hatchet fish.

I personally, think the dadiburjori is one of the best river tank fish I have ever kept. They really like the current and tend to stay near the surface of the tank.

I don't think they come from such high flow conditions, but maybe I am wrong.
