Hi Mick,

I got ten of them, but at home I've found one more in the fishbag. I might buy a few more and share them into two groups in two different tanks.

David, I would also say biwae is a hot hint in any case. Now we have to decide between cf. of spec. aff.

Thanks for your search. I've found some markings of my loaches on pictures of C. biwae.

Yes Emma, I've seen them eating frozen bloodworms, and living Tubifex. It seems they aren't very interested in catfish tabs at this time.

Firstly , great pics yet again , strangely there was a chap in England who bred C. Biwae , i'm going back a while , the articlie if i'm not mistaken was in an old Aquarist and pond magazine , the article was complete with pics of both adults and juveniles , but i think the pics acompanying the said article were of different fish than the ones in your pics Thomas ? and in the links presented by David ? wheras your fish have a whitish base colour , the ones in the article had a yellowy goldish sort of base colour !
Thats not to say either of you are wrong its just that if? his were indeed Biwae then they did look different to yours !

thanks for your reply.

I've asked Jörg Bohlen, and he said that it could be C. biwae, but it could also be another undescribed Cobitis.

At the moment I name them Cobitis sp. or C. cf. biwae. I think Cobitis sp. is better

only a small update, this pic I've made in the dark. When the lights goes on, the colors of the loaches fade away.

It looks very similar to my cobitis.

Please compare the pics with the one of mine and tell me what you think.

Hi Thomas.

I was surprised!
There is the loach which resembled Japan in the Europe.
I show a picture of 2 kinds of Japanese Cobitis genus.
They are very simular species to Cobitis taenia.

Hi, I dig out this thread for some news:

The Cobitis seems to be an undescribed species from taiwan and they habe spawned a few weeks ago in my tank. On May, 24th I've spotted some 5-6mm larvas. I've catched 13 out of the tank to raise them. I've fed with artemia nauplii they grow quickly and after three weeks the biggest are about 20mm. The last pic is from today.
