Goodbye old girl...

Post by Jim Powers » Tue Sep 05, 2006 4:48 pm

I lost another one of my geriatric loaches today. :(
This was a large (probably female) Schistura kohchangensis that I have had for about 5-6 years. I thought I would lose this fish a few years ago when it started breathing heavy and developed a black head and bleached out body. Since it hid lots of the time, I didn't notice it at first. I didn't treat the tank because I thought the fish was ready to die. But, low and behold it pulled through and lived until this afternoon.
I just moved this fish and its male (?) counterpart to a larger tank several months ago and have been enjoying their boisterous antics.
It seems as though there is no sentimentality in the fish world. When this fish started acting a bit odd and looking bad the last couple of days, the male took over its favorite cave.
I think I gave it a good life.
Here she is in better times.

Condolences :(

Was a great looking fish indeed ... I did not realize they can get THIS fat.... Well, it probably lived better and longer than it could anywhere else.

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time for every purpose, under heaven

Sorry to hear the news Jim. I bet she lived longer than she would ever have survived in the wild.

Martin.

Jim, you have an extra IMG tag in your post and I think that is your problem.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss, but from what I have seen of your tanks, she was lucky to have been in your care.
