Sewellia marmorata fry
Hi all
Finally I could take some pics of Sewellia marmorata fry. Length about 11 mm, bustling about last 3 weeks.
An adult female
and a male
Pattern of S. marmorata fry is already very complex as in Sewellia SEW03 from January 2016 at 20 mm length as seen here
At the size of 10/18 mm SEW03 looked like this (November 2014)
Specimen at left is about the same age as the specimen of 20 mm
S. marmorata fry differs from all Sewellia fry I had till now (S. lineolata, S. SEW01, SEW02, SEW03 and Sewellia speciosa).
I hope to get pics of younger S. marmorata fry soon.
Cheers Charles

Re: Sewellia marmorata fry
That's great news!
S. marmorata have become one of my favorites, if not my favorite, hillstream. Unfortunately, my group have not spawned.
Keep us posted!

Awesome!! They are cute little things I'm always excited to read about the breeding of a Loach.
Re: Sewellia marmorata fry
Thanks all.
Smaller ones just not to fix.
Seems, that S. marmorata is not so easy to breed (like S. speciosa, S. elongata, SEW04)
A thick layer of coarse pebbles along the backside of the tank (140x30x30) and food twice a day seems to have changed their mind. SEW03 have the same set-up and were easy to convince.
Cheers Charles

Thanks all.
No idea, Michael. Just one of this size. The rest is tiny and hiding well/staying away from light. Just tails moving in the pebbles.
Cheers Charles

Beautiful specimens you have there Charles.
Hope to be setting up a 2.00x40x40 next year so i can start keeping different Sewellia species again.

This is very exciting. I am very glad to see that they are breeding.
Re: Sewellia marmorata fry
Congratulations to Forest Hills. I hope you get more of them.
I have to move before the house is taken down, finally found a new place, so mine could stop.
Cheers Charles

Re: Sewellia marmorata fry
Thanks, Charles,
Looks like 3, about 7mm, from the same spawn.
Not prolific
I'm trying for a good photo, no luck so far -- they do not like coming to the front
Good luck with the move!
