Powerhead for Roma 200L
Hi, I am moving my Sewellia into a different tank soon (slightly shorter so I can keep my 240L tank for goldfish).
Can anyone recommend a powerhead that will produce good flow at the top of the tank please? Dimensions are 100cm x 40cm x 55cm. I have absolutely no idea of where to start with powerheads, my current system uses an external filter with two output nozzles. Any advice on products greatly appreciated please (I am in the UK, not sure if that helps).

Re: Powerhead for Roma 200L
After some experimenting I use only Aquaclear powerheads. Other, admittedly similarly cheap brands were noisy with vibrations and suffered from short life and sticking when switched off for tank maintenance. Aquaclear seem free of these problems.
On my 6ft Clown Loach tank I use 2 x undergravel filter, 2 x Aquaclear 50 powerhead with venturi for aeration (1000 l/h, 250 g/hr and 12W). Total Filtration = 2000 l/h divided by 400 l = 5 times turnover per hour (5 to 10 times recommended).

Re: Powerhead for Roma 200L
Thanks for the recommendation. Since making the post I read that the Fluval U4 can "act as a powerhead" at its highest flow, is that accurate? For my 200L (3ft), would a single U4 filter + one Aquaclear 50 be a good start?
I know I will never achieve fully unidirectional flow but I am not too worried with my Sewellia, they love the existing system which is just a couple of output nozzles blasting water at the top of the tank.

Re: Powerhead for Roma 200L
I have a Fluval U4 internal filter in my 200l tank which has been operating continuously since March 2017. I have the outlet at the surface. It is capable of high flow but I have the flow turned right down as I require lower flow for Cardinal Tetras.
The Aquaclear 50 needs to be attached to something (in my case the uplift tube of an undergravel filter) or the suction may be too great and it may trap fish. They made a filter attachment for it.

Perfect, thank you I will look into all of this. I am quite liking the idea of a powerful internal filter combined with a powerhead for this shape and size of tank.
Re: Powerhead for Roma 200L
I have a couple Maxijet powerheads (1200 l/h? I think) that I've used & an AC that is reversable but I don't recall it's model # both are quite reliable.
In the US we don't use internal filters very often so I think you're not where I am...

Looking at it is a possible upgrade from my current 200 litre tank.
