Correction on Species Index

Post by Matthew in China » Mon Dec 04, 2023 4:15 pm

Is this the appropriate place to submit corrections to the species index? Or should I contact the admins directly next time?

This hillstream loach in this photo is actually P. changtingensis.

Also, who do I contact to submit species to the index?

Hi there. I guess you could send a private message to the administrator, Shafer, as detailed under the announcements at the top of the Loach Forum home page.

I believe that the person who used to do this work left this forum in 2012. I know this isn't what you wanted to hear but at least somebody eventually responded to your post. I noticed you didn't get a reply.

I believe there was once a collection of individuals who socialised on this forum one of whom ran a business that specialised in importing loaches and hosted visits to their shop and home but these people have mostly moved on and most people now gravitate to other media which are not quite the same thing such as Facebook e.g. Clown Loach Fanatics, Loach Fanatics, Hillstream Loach (Balitorid) Owners etc.

I hope that helps. I am not a loach expert, just a specialist in another field who happens to have kept some Clown Loaches for a long time.

To submit corrections to the species index on Loaches.com, it’s generally best to contact the site admins directly. They can provide guidance on the proper procedure for submitting corrections, including identifying species. Pizza Tower

And changtingensis is moved to the new genus Labigstromyzon together with P. fangi.

But I fear loaches.com is dead since a long time.

Cheers

Well done! Maintaining an up-to-date species index is always useful. To make sure the modifications are updated correctly, it's best to contact the administrators directly regarding revisions. In most cases, the website will have the necessary contact details. You are doing an excellent job.
