Great success feeding Clown Loaches using an angling Feeder

Post by hamfist » Mon Nov 27, 2023 8:01 am

I thought I would just share some great success I have have feeding my clowns with an angling feeder (or swimfeeder as we call them in the UK).
I am trying to feed up my CLs but there are a lot of other midwater fish in the tank which will eat a lot of the food intended for the clowns.
Anyway, I thought I would try using a feeder to feed them frozen bloodworm and also chopped up prawn. I attached a line to the feeder so I just fill it up, drop it down to the bottom of the tank and pull it up again once they have emptied it. The clowns absolutely love it, and it also means they get the vast majority of the food, as it takes a bit of loachy intelligence and effort to suck it out of the feeder. It also enriches their lives by giving them a challenge to get their food.
I have put insulating tape around part of the feeder to keep the food in and make it harder for the loaches to get. It also reduces the amount got to by the other fish. I am not sure how to embed photos on these posts, but there are links below to pictures of the feeder I am using.

If you're looking to share photos, you might consider posting the links directly in your comments, as you've done, or using an image embedding feature if the platform supports it. Your clowns are lucky to have such a thoughtful owner! contexto
