Levimasole for Canadians?

Post by brochtune » Mon Apr 02, 2007 8:51 pm

Anyone have any idea where to get Levamisole in Canada? I'm in Kingston, Ontario and nobody I speak to seems to have the foggiest idea what I'm talking about. Farm feed stores, vets....what am I missing? is it just not that available in Canada?

Alternatively, I picked up some Erythromycin gel at the suggestion of the LFS dude (he's been pretty good overall) because it's a broad spectrum antibiotic. He also said it was fairly gentle as well.

HOWEVER, I'm only in my 5th day of treating Ich with Quick Cure and noticed my smallest Clown looking really skinny and emaciated. This isn't the first time I've noticed, I just haven't seen him in a while and it was a surprise how bad it's become. I guess I thought he'd start eating better after he acclimatized to the tank. Nope, the two other that came in with him are almost double his size. He isn't as bad as other fish I've seen on this site, but he's clearly not healthy.

Anyway, I thought I could treat with Levamisole since figured it would be fine with Quick Cure. But I just don't know with the Erythromycin.

Any ideas or insight into if I'm asking for the wrong thing(Levamisole Hydrochloride)? And, also, if the Erythromycin would work without decimating my other fish during this Ick treatment?

Thanks!

-Thomas
