Hillstream disease help

Post by Keeb » Mon Apr 09, 2007 2:21 am

Today I noticed a white patchy spot on one of my Beaufortia kweichowensis. I know some of you like Jim has experienced weird patchy diseases on hillies and was hoping I could get some help identifying and treating. I've inspected it really close even in dark with flash light but can't tell what it is. It doesn't look like Flex or any other common disease. It almost looks like a healing wound and white. I'm going to put it in hospital tank for now until I know what to do. No signs of problems on any other hillies in this 50g river tank housing 6 hillstreams. Water is 0,0,5 with weekly 33% WC. No new additions in a month. The spots were not visible 2 days ago and fish is still acting healthy and normal. I know Hillstreams can get and carry some weird diseases and I need help deriving a treatment plan.

I should mention that I did indeed read Jim's article on "patchy disease". It is really hard to tell but I don't think it is patchy disease. It looks more like a fungal or bacterial disease. I'll try to get some decent pics.
