Nice fish, Graeme. What size is it?
I used to have some of what were sold as peppered loaches in my original river tank but they were probably L. gunthea. They got to be about 4" long and were very cool fish. They tended to hide too much, though. I now have what looks like a minature version, more like your fish, that is full grown and is a just a little over 1". I'm wondering if it could be the same species as yours.

Hi Jim.
In the LOL Species index you can see my L. gunthea's which also grew to around 4 inches but i have to agree about these sized specimens. Commonly named as "Giant Pepper Loaches" but mine is also just under 2 inches. After keeping these for around 8 months, they haven't grown much. They look like a miniature version of the L. berdmorei picture that Kamphol supplied in the LOL species index. Perhaps "wild" caught and captive bred is the case? http://www.loaches.com/species_pages/le ... morei.html
