very cool.

if you really love that feeling of finding fry pop up out of nowhere and having the experience of raising them on a daily basis you should buy a pair of convict cichlids.. they breed like CRAZY!

i know this is a loach forum but hey.. why not broaden some horizons once in a while

Congrat's on the babies Whitey! :D
Survival of the fittest is horrible, but the best ones will survive!

Our Cheni don't seem to be doing too well on the breeding in the new tank. We have only had 2 fry survive from several spawnings. Not sure why.

We have had a change of Alpha male this year and there may have been another change more recently too. We are watching them!

You forget though how tiny the fry are at first as they grow very fast.

Cheers everyone. I'm really happy with how well they're doing :D
dlenn- I had my cheni spawning unsucessfully for months before I actually saw any fry. There's been several spawnings since the first batch of fry appeared, but I've only seen one or two babies result. I really do think that having fry survive is a matter of luck as much as anything else. Stick with it and I'm sure you'll get more babies soon.

The first lot are starting to look more like the adults now. They've started sucking onto the glass and are out and about a lot more:

I love the pattern on this one. It's great seeing how they develop over time:
