Currently the following are sticking with me (split into a few tanks (+ additional quarantine)):
6 - Clowns, 1x 5“, 3x 4“, 2x appr. 2“ (at least one male amongst them, alpha possibly gravid?)
9 - B. Striatas, average 2”+
5 - Y. Caudipunctata, 3 - 4” (one with not typical caudal markings),
6 - Y. Nigrolineata, max. 2”
1 (and more) - Y. Sid. ? recently the pattern of one “Nigrolineata” makes me think it´s a Sid. (I will post an update … currently I´m confused about their markings). Rev1.1.2010 Found at least one new ornament on a smaller Sid, they must have bred.
10 - P. Oblonga, 2 cinnamon colored ( a pair, I guess), 13.Dec.07, 8 black ones added.
3 - S. Balteata, below 2” (both show pretty puffy cheeks so far)
Revision 2 (of 4) added February 2008. Except 1 with a degenerated left eye, the others are now above 2"
Rev 2.july 09: one-eyed died , a yellow one added 10.nov.08 died 13.feb.09, on jumped out during feeding (2nd time) found one body which I think was that one, leaves total of 2. hmmm ... but I saw 3 today (15.July 09)
9 - Kuhli added (February 2008 ), Rev1.04.2010: 4 mature various "banded" ones added. 2 were "fully loaded" females (8cm TL).
2 - Pangio cf. anguilaris (added 10.nov.08 )
1 - Pangio unknown (added 10.nov.08 )
7 - Pseudogastromyzon (added 13.feb.09) Rev1.03.2010: 5 larger ones added, some of them appear a very little different.
16 - Yunnanilus brevis (juvenile, added 12.mar.09)
4 - Sinibotia pulcher (1 adult 5" added 13.feb.09, 3 juvenile, added 27.april 09)
1 - Schistura beavani (added 27.april 09)
Gone fishing:
2 - Syncrossus hymenophysa (added 10.nov.08 ) Rev25.04.2010: lost one, no symptoms visible. 11cm TL (> 4") lost the 2nd a month or so after the first, had some holes in the skin
2 - Sewellia lineolata, a pair, both just below 2”. After developing a really nice "relationship" to each other and gaining weight, beeing always busy and entertaining, the female left 2nd week in May 2008, the male followed about a week later, no idea why. No unusual obseravation were made.
1 - Aborichthys elongatus, 3” (most likely male, looking for a mate)
Left on 23.12.07, had him only 4 years, he was one of my most favourity friends, no signes of death visible, was previously suffering an eye injury, possibly due to a fight with one of the Stiphodons?
I have recently lost ALL my kuhlies ( 18 )
including my original ones (and a tiny Lepidocephalichthys that was with me for a few weeks only), , never had that many losses before ...
I´m complete with loaches, perhaps I find some Homaloptera some day, Kuhlis I´d like some day again too – but that´s it. For now no new ones (don´t know yet, what I´m going to do with the possible Sid…). Sewellia will be added more in about 6 months, I saw the female release eggs.

Horse Faced Loaches
I adore them. The three big ones (still small at 4") I only see if I sneak up on them in the dark (they are always under the sand), but the 4 small ones are almost always out and about. They hang out with the Kuhlies and have a good time chewing on shrimp pellets, flakes and worms. They are not shy at all. I may actually have 8. I have a medium guy about 3", and he's never sure if he wants to hide with the big boys, or if he wants to be out with the little guys.Mark in Vancouver wrote:Really? 7 horsies? That must be pretty good value. I've still got my pair, and the female is gravid once again.
Are the plump female with the male in the species description your two? http://www.loaches.com/species-index/ac ... se%20faced How big are they? Are there health risks with her being gravid? How long does it take for them to mature? How old do they become? If you have time to answer, you can always PM me, since I am off topic for this thread.

Yes, that's my pair. She has gotten gravid five or six times now, and then disappears for a while only to return nice and slim. I check the tank out very carefully every time I clean it, but no babies to date. I expect that once they are mature, they'll become gravid on a regular (seasonal) basis.
She's a bit longer than the male, at about 5" TL. I have no idea about their life expectancy, but mine are completely stable, it seems. I've had them for several years.
Don't ever worry about hijacking threads! That's what we're here for.
