How often and how much cucumber to feed clown loaches?

Post by ey » Sun May 07, 2006 6:59 am

I've recently got some clown loaches (2" each) and tried feeding them some cucumber, and to my surprise they loved it! They finished 3 big pieces within 2 hours! I was temtped to add more but wasnt sure how much and how often I should feed cucumber to clown loaches. Can I feed them cucumber daily or should it be fed like a treat?

The yoyo loaches also eat the cucumber, leaving next to nothing for the bristlenose! :o

Mine have a good chunk every day....I hope this is OK for them but they seem to be doing well.

I try to give one "vegie" meal a day - be it either peas, cucumber, zucchini, or "blanched" lettuce... It's a vain attempt at protecting my aquarium plants

I noticed in another thread you also asked about blood worms - I feed frozen blood worms every second day at the least.

With the blood worms, flakes & granules, I try to make sure everything is eaten within a minute before I try adding another small amount.

The vegies & sinking wafers I'm not quite so strict about, as I have some very large Apple (Mystery) snails in my tank that love to clean up for me - but I still like everything to be gone within half an hour.
:)
