That's crazy about the glass! I bought glass tops and had to have them cut down a little because the measurement was inexact. I took them to a hardware store, and told them what it was and why I needed it, and they just said 'cool.' I asked if they could smooth the glass a little, but they weren't able to. They just said "it's sharp, be careful!"

Well the saga continues.
Managed to get the cover glasses cut from another source, no questions asked as to usage, so no lies told.
my measuring was pretty damned accurate, bit of a phew moment cos there is less than a mm of clearance on the sides. Almost a cock-up
Collected plants on Friday (very nice quality) 20 java ferns. 2 each of Anubias Lanceolata, Congensis and Batreri var nan 3 x Crinum thaianum and 100 grams of java moss. Plus a few extras that Mike threw in.
Spent Saturday morning with a big bag of elastic bands attaching plants to various bits of bog wood and a couple of flat pebbles, then getting them into the right position, which if I say so myself I did rather well
The filled tank to top with best part of 100 UK galls of water. Set filter going, positioned lights.
Wow!!! well pleased with the results.
What I have tried to do is create a river margin a nice smooth substrate to the rear of the tank, with all the wood and roots gathered there along with all the plants that are attached to them, then along the front of the tank smooth pebbles washed clean by the current. My minds eye vision has been surpassed, much better than I thought it would look.
The lighting is superb. 450 blue LED's (hydroponics grow lamps, not there intended use judging by the amount of canabis leaf motifs on the accompanying blurb
) along with a single standard 4 foot flouresant tube, the white light takes the blueness out, but when the time clock switches the tube off the moonlight effect of the blue lights is just stunning and to my eye very accurate, wonderful dark look with big black shadows and gives some of the anubias plants a red tinged stem. The elastic bands glow in the blue light which makes them very visible, so it'll be good when they have done there job.
Tank will be left to stand now till the weekend and let things settle, I have set the filter running and a bit of fish food has been added to help get the bacteria going but cycling will start in earnest at the end of the week.
Really gonna have to sit on my hands cos I wanna put some fish in now!!!!!
Have taken a few photos (not very good ones
) so will have a tinker with them on photoshop and see if I can get something useable to put up for you to see.....
