it is silly that one can vote three times in the same day.
what is the point of that.
The whole vote thing is biased towards colour because of the small thumbnails unless one clicks on each photo (like that'll happen). It is hard to notice the huge size of Albert.

I think it's really more of a popularity contest and to get hits for the website.

Doesn't really matter, we still want Albert to be immortalized in the magazine. 8)
books. gotta love em!

Does just the top vote getter get into the magazine or several of the top vote getters?

Welcome to LOL santos. Nice to see another Ontario resident here. Every vote counts and it's interesting to see what brings a lurker out of the woodwork :P

Albert was a very special fish.

Martin.

Albert has an even better chance now :D:D

I think they realized the votes were a BIT biased in some cases, because I just received the following e-mail:
Hello,
I am notifying you as a participant in the Million Dollar Tropical Fish Photo contest of a change in the rules:

We will be selecting the winner of the contest in a different manner.

The top Twenty (20) photos with the most votes will be submitted to a Three (3) panel team for final judging. The panel will be made of a Saltwater/Freshwater Hobbyist, a representative from TFH and a professional photographer.

If there is a tie for the 20th place, then each photo that has the same amount of votes as the 20th place will be included for judging.

The judging criteria of each photo will include color, deportment, and condition of the photographed aquatic life as well as the clarity, quality, theme and presentation of the photo itself.

Decisions of the judges are final.

Best regards,

Joe Di Bartolomeo

Thanks so much Santos :D

Jim, it's only the "Winner" that gets in the magazine, and the photographer get's a $250 gift certificate, too :)

mamaschild, I just read that in the rules too. I think it's a good decision on their part! Not only was Albert an incredible fish, that photograph is just so compelling. We're pulling for you!

I'm glad to hear that the judging will be a little more 'fair.' My kids have been questioning me about how those other pictures could have votes in the thousands. My kids are even trying to get me to get on the computers at the library and cast votes. Competitive, aren't they??

We're rooting for you, mamaschild and Evan!!
